Oh no not soccer, sorry football, I just don't get that game, though Australia's in the world cup this year, first time since 1966 or something!!

Now it is not soccer! It's football!! No-one in the UK calls it soccer! You see, the game is played with a ball that you kick with your feet, hence football Now a game you play where you round around holding a ball - that's rugby!

Do you know USA is higher up the world ranking than England!! They are 8th and we are 9th!! And in the sweepstake at work I have USA so when England are kicked out it will be USA!!!!

I'm still at work, but I am off in 1/2 hour. Working on Satruday. How horrible! And my boss (He's from Denmark) thinks England cheated today.

I didn't spot any cheating! Boring match yes, cheating - well you will have to be more specific!!

The bright spot is I just found out Dr Who will be back on Australian TV in July (think it is July), so wheeeeeee!!!!!!! July is going to be jam packed, new SG-1/SGA in the US and SG-1 season 9 on Aust TV (still no word on SGA ) and now Dr Who... scifi overload and I love it!

Wow - July will be fab for you and it is only next month so hardly any time to wait!

argh where is everyone this was halfway down page 2! LOL

I'm sorry, I planned on thunking yesterday, after all it's the weekend and normally I use this time to come to GW. But I was deadly tired on Friday, so I decided to go to bed early and sleep in on Saturday. On Saturday I had a lot to do and the weather was wonderful (it's finally summer here), and in the evening my bronchitis bothered me again (thankfully it's finally getting better now), so again no time for the thread. But now I'm here, and it seems I have a lot to catch up with.

Well here football is AFL (Aussie rules) or if we must rugby, but sorry no it is Soccer if it involves that round ball!

Yes but I wish SGA was on in July they still haven't said when it will screen, personally and not just because of McKay I would rather see SGA first or at least at the same time as SG-1.

What a thoughtful and considered post! I wanted to acknowledge it immediately because I do not have the time to answer it properly at the moment and did not want you to think I have no interest in your comments!

I too have expectations, hopes and worries for Season 3 but I always try to be positive! I am eager to see McKay and Mrs Miller because the potential for that ep is huge! Martin Gero is a writer I really like so I think that has to be my most eagerly anticipated ep for next season.

Anyway - give me some time and I will reply properly!!

That is one of my absolute favourite caps of McKay, which is why I never post it as I don't want it to lose any of it's impact but well Sqeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!

Damn. I just wanted to make a new cap and had to discover that one of my harddrives isn't working anymore. The one with all the SGA eps on it, among other things. I still haven't figured out what the problem is, but until now I couldn't do anything about it, and my bf isn't here, so I have no help. I saved a few things from this hardrrive to my Powerbook, but not everything, and not lately. I dread thinking about all the stuff that's on there, the profiles, the audio commentaries and many, many things I don't remember right now, which is even worse, because then I can't look for them again.
I really, really hope for a miracle now.

I'm sitting at my bf's computer now to look through the thread. Maybe it'll distract me a little.

I feel like crying.

Oh no!! That's awful!! I know a little how you feel because recently hubbie had to install a new piece of software on my pc (it was to do with playing videos) and in the process of installing the new software it wiped off all my existing videos!! Not anything major, just the vids people had created to pop tunes etc but I had about 20 of them and I watched them regularly. He was so cross and felt so guilty! He is very very experienced when it comes to pc's and in no way was he expecting this to happen and no warning was given it would do that! So I am trying to go find them all again but have lost the links and so I may never find them again Of course I cannot remember what most of them were called!

Hubbie says can you still 'see' that you have that hard drive on your pc even though you can't access it? If you can it is almost certain you can retrieve what is on there even if you have to take it to a specialist place to be done. So don't give up hope!

In Germany it's called 'Fußball', and the 1:1 translation would be 'football'. But when I learnt English at school I also learnt that only the British people mean the same sport with this word, the Americans don't, they call it soccer. I was pretty confused then, didn't understand why the Americans call a game 'football' where they carry the ball around.

And there are no cheerleaders!

Btw, Germany's going pretty crazy with the World Cup at the moment. I can't take one step out of the door without being reminded of it, it's everywhere! I know, it's a big event and I'm proud that my country hosts it this time, but please, I can't even buy cheese, milk or shampoo without seeing a football reference on it!
Of course I watch a few games, too, although I'm not that much into this sport.

Rodney is an Canadian...he'd be into curling. Or hockey

Yeah but he came from England originally so he probably did get into soccer in his childhood.

Well, yes, Rodney is Canadian, so if he's interested in sports I'd love to see him enjoying Hockey or Curling (which I love). But he's not a cliché Canadian (the polite thing), so maybe he prefers watching... pole vault.
And David? Well, we know that he likes to swim and that he can ice-skate (seen in 'Ice Men'), and he learnt horse-riding as a child. And since he was born in England, maybe he likes football.
But Martin Gero just said in the profile that DH doesn't like sports so much. Maybe that was just a joke regarding the whole comment, or maybe DH just doesn't like to get exercise but likes watching sports. I'd love to know.

That is my worst nightmare!!! I'm so sorry to hear that, if I knew anything "real" about computers I would suggest something but I am pretty much in the dark these days on all that. I do know if your HD crashes they can sometimes salvage files but it can be costly. And I am not sure of the legalities when you may have certain files that need recovering, I guess they come across that a lot these days. Was this your separate HD? The one you took to your Dad's to *cough* things?

I am so paranoid about the same thing happening to mine I have copied to disc pretty much everything even most of my caps!

Lol! Well it is from David's mouth apparently (Dam that man ) and in the new copy of the UK mag Cult Times. Well as usual it could mean anything we know what interviews are like but I do get a feeling this season will be darker (which I don't mind) and will have major angst for McKay which I do mind kinda because angst for McKay usually means treating him like he is an idiot. Well IMO it does.
