As the title of the thread suggests, either text or graphic is fine, just don't go posting some uber monster that has us all going wtf or simply falling over with laughter. Even modeling efforts can get the same reaction, as you might see if you go back a few pages. One poster here really got sodded off, because he took critique a little bit too harshly and never came back

Calling someone or their work 'fanwank' is a little hypocritical.

Undoubtedly all of this is 'fanwank' and all of we are 'fanwank-ers'. To make us 'fanwank-ers' feel better we try to separate ourselves from the outlandish and try to put ourselves closer to a real life practical ship that could be in the show. We then consider ourselves part of that group and start to call others outside our group 'fanwank-ers' because we think their works don't fit the accepted norms. We don't like to see gigantic and super-powerful ships because we (and me personally) think it's a disgrace to the show and in-turn, us.

Why would you think that could work? How is that relevant? Can we realistically make that like we can the Daedalus? Are all questions I ask to see if something is stretching the limits.

This community has had a underlying norm that most of us except which we use separates the unrealistic from the realistic. I suggest to you that you think out your projects before you post them before the community for judgement. You will be criticized you can be sure of that and nobody like being attacked or arguing.

Does that help? I think I rambled

I like SketchUp, I model with it, Click me to See!

An example of rambling for your pleasure

Humphrey: Prime Minister I must strongly protest in the strongest possible terms, my profound opposition to a newly instituted practice which imposes severe and intolerable restrictions upon the ingress and egress of senior members of the hierarchy and which will in all probability, should the current deplorable innovation be perpetuated, precipitate a constriction of the channels of communication and culminate in a condition of organisational atrophy and administrative paralysis which will render effectively impossible the coherent and coordinated discharge of the function of government within her Majesty's United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

Hacker: You mean you've lost your key?

                And this gem

Sir Humphrey: With Trident we could obliterate the whole of Eastern Europe.
Jim Hacker: I don't want to obliterate the whole of Eastern Europe.
                Sir Humphrey: It's a deterrent.
Jim Hacker: It's a bluff. I probably wouldn't use it.
Sir Humphrey: Yes, but they don't know that you probably wouldn't.
                Jim Hacker: They probably do.
Sir Humphrey: Yes, they probably know that you probably wouldn't. But they can't certainly know.
Jim Hacker: They probably certainly know that I probably wouldn't.
Sir Humphrey: Yes, but even though they probably certainly know that you probably wouldn't, they don't certainly know that, although you probably wouldn't, there is no probability that you certainly would.

Don't be like that. What does his opinion matter to you anyway? You are new here and you should not make your decisions based on the opinion of another member. What if there are members that like what you have to post and will be disappointed if you leave? We all started out where you are now and we have all progressed though the feelings of being left out or being neglected. It's no big deal trust me. Please reconsider.

Good, generally we consider the size of the Daedalus to be anywhere in between 400-650 meters depending on the person. We base our models and ship specs from there.

It is, though not so always on a moving ship......many busted knuckles and falling down off ladders

But yes it is cool, though the industry I'm working in now is a bit boring, Temperature sensors and environmental devices, could be better if it were applied to intergalatic ships though
