Not realy. She's a Science officer/technician in her early 30's. A healthy and physicaly fit ("Good looking" or otherwise) woman would make more sense than an "Overweight nerd girl". An officer with the LA would probably need a good level physical fitness to do her job to the best of her abilities considering the sort of things the LA get up to.
