I think it would have helped if the writers and producers just folded their cards at end of S8 and came back with the SGC but "retired" the SG1 for good at Jack's and Sam's reassignments and Daniel and Teal'c going off to do their things ... Landry should have not been written as trying to re-invent SG1.

Remember when the tour guide was taking the group through the SGC in 2010? She pointed out pictures of the different teams and the original SG1 was "the flagship team". No substitutes.

BTW, shouldn't the writers have to bring Cassie back eventually because she was in 1969 and showed that she was somehow directly involved with the Stargate program as she grew older?! But according to the information below, Cassie would not have been happy with the SGC when her mom died. So how did she ever return to the fold and become a part of the establishment she hated?

Here's what Teryl Rothery has to say in The Illustrated Companion, S7-8, about Cassie being missing at Janet's memorial service at the SGC:

"Oh there's a very good reason for that ... not only is Cassie now away at college, but her non-appearance at the SGC was kind of a protest. She was totally angry at the way her mom's role in saving the world had to be kept a secret, and that the real way in which she died had to be suppressed. She decided not to grace the proceedings with her presence but rest assured, she was grieving as much as anybody else."

Interesting backstory from TR, herself. Now, if Cassie was so angry and bitter maybe somehow that's why Sam had to step in and help her to heal.

this is what i'm hoping for for atlantis' s2 'grace under pressure' episode (which i'm not sure i'm going to watch until shippers say it's safe)
