So I just finished watching The Ark of Truth for the first time and I was so disapointed to see Sam take a backseat role throughout the film. I don't think they even mentioned Jack I was a little curious by the end however. The conversation between Daniel and Landry about the Ark being moved to area 51 and how if someone got their hands on it the results could be disastrous. Do you think this was foreshadowing for what might have been the third movie?

I'm sure they've released something about the third movie.. maybe. All I heard was that we'd get out confirmation and that Jack would be a large part of the film.

I have a feeling (and people feel free to correct me if I'm wrong) that this was the film that AT directed wasn't it? Might explain why she's not in front of the camera as much. I haven't watched the film for about a year as I didn't like the last two seasons so didn't really enjoy it. Continuum on the other hand I love!

According to IMDB Robert C. Cooper directed Ark of Truth.

But for all we know, it could have been by AT's request, if she felt she wanted to be at home more, or something. Or if the shooting for the movie conflicted with trying to get Sanctuary going... Who knows?

AT only directed the S7 ep Resurrection. AoT was written and directed by RCC. BW wrote the script for the 3rd movie. He has never suggested that the Ark would have anything to do with it. The few hints we've gotten suggest that the movie would be about the public revelation of the Stargate, which is something BW has wanted to do going back to the end of S6 when he wrote the earliest draft of what would eventually become Lost City.

As for S/J confirmation, BW has said that there was a scene in the script that is "shall we say . . . romantic."

Ah I see. I don't know where I got that idea from. Seriously it's just been attached in my head to the film for ages. Makes me worry about what else might be wrong in there...

There is no indication that the sidelining of Sam's character was ever an AT request. RCC's vision of the new Stargate did not involve Sam and he made that clear from the get go. AoT was just par for the course at that point.

Since the movie was filmed before SGA S4 (AT was brought over to that show by JM/PM who loved her). Unfortunately, they didn't know what to do with Sam on Atlantis either. That's when AT started looking at other options, like making her own show with DK and MW. I'm pretty sure there was no overlap between Sanctuary and AoT.
