I'm sure the rules for this are all written down somewhere.

That said, this was the first time I have ever broken my own rule not to give editorial feedback to someone in public. This sort of thing should be done privately, so I apologize if too much advice hit a sore spot.

And all of us have shortened forms of our names to save having to do so much typing. Hopefully, you will forgive us if we slip up and shorten yours.
SR is the self-proclaimed editor of the thread. I like the red pen of doom. But that's a problem of mine in stories sometimes, knowing when first name basis is acceptable. Especially when it's a character's POV and trying to figure out how they would refer to another person.

And ditto on the names. It's just a typing shortcut. No slight intended.

Good grief. Numb3rs is a great show, but in math class? Somebody didn't write a lesson plan. Have the schools come to this? Sigh.
She gave them a "free" day because our break starts tomorrow. Considering the state I was in this morning, though, I was happy to not have to interpret algebra.

Schools have changed a lot since I was teaching. Showing a TV show or movie not on the "approved" list would have earned us a trip to the woodshed.

Not self proclaimed, but duly elected by the SGA-R planning committee. LOL It was due to the fact that I taught writing and English and copyedit for people in RL. The SGA-R writers and I have been around the "comma needed" and "no comma needed" circle a number of times. Yet they still haven't learned. I just can't help breaking out the red pen of doom sometimes.

And also, I have a bit of knowledge of US military matters due to my Marine, Mr. SR, and a herd of military friends.

I just personally feel that acknowledging one by his or her full name is very important, and a name can sometimes be very symbolic. I chose this name to honor John and Elizabeth, the two original leaders of Atlantis, and their relationship, and I'd very much appreciate it if it wasn't cut short.

Well, it’s good that you let us know about what you prefer.

It’s sucks but unfortunately it’s not uncommon that the writers put that little extra effort into the writing of a character (that they should have put into them from the start) the very episode they die in, it makes the whole thing feel even worse because you finally got to the the characters full potential and then just nothing.

Good morning, Sparkies! Happy Smutty Tuesday!

It's a busy, busy, busy day for me today, running around with all sorts of errands, so I'll have to make this brief. Good thing yesterday's all-day migraine went away overnight. And hugs all around to everyone else feeling under the weather.

Carson's return, Teyla getting kidnapped (we could've had some great stuff between her and Kate after Teyla was rescued!)... Argh. Getting rid of Kate was STUPID.

Sparky is on screen. Therefore, it is canon. Elizabeth is still out there. And John WILL bring her home.

Well, I'll be honest when I say that I've actually had a lot of plot bunnies, but this was the first one that went in a direction that I actually liked. But thanks for the tips! I was debating whether Elizabeth would call General O'Neill "Jack" if it was just her, John, Rodney, and Carson around, and I was also wondering if O'Neill would act in a professional or more relaxed manner when welcoming them back to Earth, especially given their current plight. He knows Elizabeth quite well, but not John, Rodney, or Carson as much, I suppose, and I see what you mean by military protocol. Did I overuse "you guys" though? I think I only used it twice, but I do see how it is rather informal and would most likely be used in very casual settings and among characters who have a close friendship with each other. I'll definitely pay more attention to this in the future.

Also, this is just a side note to everyone, but I know how a couple of weeks ago, I mentioned that I wouldn't mind if you all addressed me as Sparks. erm, hi. welcome to the thread! it's really nice to have new people around, especially those who are willing to ask for constructive suggestions of their fellow shippers. I would heed everything what amazing SR says. She is the master of red pen, true, and she also knows a whole lot of other stuff, especially military - specific things. *nods*

i think i understand where you're coming from regarding your screen name. however keep in mind that people here type a lot and tend to use affectionate abbreviations just to make things quicker and more practical. we will all certainly do our best to comply to your wishes.

Oh my goodness, you two. You're going to make the new people scared of me. That privilege is reserved for the SGA-R writers and my RL "clients."

SK, this time of year causes all sorts of aches. I had jaw pain all day yesterday from clenching my teeth. I'm not looking forward to all the holiday hustle and bustle.

'Nuna, good to see you around here. I have a friend who is on a cruise who emailed me to say he bought me a magnet in Dubrovnik. I sit home and people bring me magnets from all over the world. What's wrong with this picture?

I wonder if they ever had another psychiatrist come to Atlantis after Kate died that wasn't seen onscreen. I mean, with everything the team went through, they needed to have a mental health specialist available. The trauma of losing Elizabeth, teh events of "Doppelganger", more Elizabeth trauma, Teyla's kidnapping ... it would seem irresponsible of TPTW (RL or show) to not provide a replacement for Kate. Not, of course, replacing her -- FH would never forgive me if I suggested otherwise -- but you know what I mean.

Judging from S4-5 being John's dark period, I'm inclined to say no. Then again, I doubt he would've talked to a shrink much, anyways.

On the plus side, I get to leave work a little early today. Have to go with student to off-site exam, then heading home to crash. I may resurface in the evening.

If anyone wants to send me tissues, the fic bunnies would gladly accept that in lieu of carrots.

I know. I was very disappointed, and my friend's ship got rerouted there because of the riots in Athens. So he had mixed feelings but said he loved the city.
