Have you all booked the hotel already?

I am planning on coming for the Con with a GA ticket, I just am unsure if I should make the hotel reservations so soon in case something changes in my live.

I used the Con's group code (I clicked the link to the hotel on Creation's page), and had a check-in date of Aug. 14, 2014. Here's the cancellation policy I saw:

Cancellation policy: If you cancel between 02-Oct-2013 and 4:00 PM hotel time on 13-Aug-2014, there will be no forfeiture amount. If you cancel after 4:00 PM hotel time on 13-Aug-2014, the forfeiture amount will be a 1 night stay.

Also, I didn't see anything about a deposit being required at the time of reservation. So, you could book a room now to ensure that you get one and always cancel the reservation if you don't end up going. I've done that for past cons and it's always worked out alright.

My mom has kindly offered to cover the base cost of my airfare with some of her airmiles. What's crazy is, on the days I have selected for travel (the Thursday before the convention and the Monday after) there is only one direct flight to Chicago from Vancouver and vice versa.

Does anybody have any reviews about the rooms at the Westin O'Hare?

Those are the days I hope to fly out and return on too, although I might go on to New York after the con and meet my sister if we can arrange it as she would be flying from the UK. We've always wanted to visit New York and I haven't seen her for 7 years. That would make a nice addition to my holiday.

We used Tripadvisor on our holiday this year when we just took off for a week driving down the West Coast to Portland. We chose hotels on our route based on reviews and then drove there the next day on the off chance we'd get a room. We were not disappointed with the 3 hotels we found this way. The one in Portland was fantastic, so looking at the reviews for the Westin it looks like a nice place to stay.

For those who have attended multiple Chicago cons, is it customary for them to start around 3pm on the Friday? The info creation has in 10-11 am, in Aug I planned my flight to get there for 10 am only to have things not start until late afternoon. The Westin took pity on me and let me check in early thank God. I guess it might depend on the number of actors attending....

I always planne don going to Stargate Con one day, however, after discovering that next year will be the last one, I decided that it might be best to go. Now that Michael's on the list, it's a no-brainer for me, so I bought a silver package.

I'm nervous as heck though, considering I'm flying in from the Netherlands and I'll be completely by myself, not to mention how much it'll all cost me. But it seems to all be worth it!

I'm super excited about thos eon the list so far. I really hope they'll bring in some SGU people, especially considering this is the last one. Would LOVE to meet Alaina Huffman, Louis Ferreira and such. Of course I'm also hoping for more SG1 and SGA people!

Admittedly I have only been to the last two, 2012, and 2013 but I think the late start in 2013 was due to Kavan Smith canceling at last minute. He was supposed to be the "big name" Friday guest. I know they had some filling in on the schedule but it definetely started later than the year prior. In 2012, I remember, because we went to pre-registration for Gold at 10am with McDonalds breakfast and stuff started around 12:30.

Unfortuneately there's really no way to tell what the scedule will be like but it is possible for things to start earlier.

I really wanted to get a Gold ticket but Creation never sent me an email announcement when they went on sale despite the fact that I signed up for their mailing list at the beginning of Sept So I have the Silver one, which is cool except I guess I won't be able to go to the exclusive Saturday Party?

I've only met Colin Cunningham from the cast. Dying to see David Hewlett and Joe Flanigan.

Hopefully I will get to know some people from the forum before then.

My first Stargate con... and apparently my last since Creation says there won't be anymore. lol Glad I discovered it in time!
But I have been to a few different conventions. I've gone to Wizard World in Chicago past few years and started going to C2E2. Will be flying out to NYCC tomorrow, my second time going. David Hewlett will be on a panel on Friday evening but I made plans to meet with a client and won't be able to attend it.

Whoah, you actually live in Chicago? I only live about 90 miles southwest of the city.
