I do speak English or at least I try
I had to learn French since I had to live in France. French is simpler to understand and speak than English for an Italian, but I find the grammar more difficult (I do hate the accents ), though it's quite similar to mine. English grammar isn't too much complicated!!!

Actually, living in So Cal, my goal is Spanish (gee, after almost 20 years here, you'd think...never mind). The dedicated Spanish work comes after the doctorate and book two of course!

I understand what you mean with the French/Italian thing. I have it with Dutch/German actually...it's because the languages look so much the same it is harder to learn IMHO. I'm so used to seeing the Dutch grammar that it is for me really difficult to understand the German grammar since I want to "Dutchify" it all the time. English was for me easier to learn....

You'll have it on your PC. Type 'character map' in the start menu search box and you'll find it. It's full of all the weird characters you could ever need, any of which you can select and copy

You're right of course - this is the safest and happiest place on GW. Everyone can say what they feel about anything (politely ) without fear of retribution or snark unless you say something negative about Joe, in which case watch out for LJ , because we are all friends and respect each other's opinions
