Going by old school, if you didn't watch it on Friday night when it first aired, it doesn't count. And, not to mention that the third season same-day ratings were higher on average, which means the silly "seven day figures" for season three were higher on average as well.

    » But, whatever convinces people the cast changes didn't effect viewership.

      I'm talking about viewers live +sd, not live +7

      you're right cast changes do indeed affect viewership but change can also be positive

        » Is this not counting the cheaters who watch twice in the same day? How about ratings in the UK and Canada? How about those without Nielsen boxes?

        » Then how about overall ratings:

        Spoiler:

        » Positive/negative is subjective, as to one something can always be positive.

          do all these ratings mean Weir is still part of the show?

          lol
          Colonel Jack O'Neill: So what's your impression of Alar?
          Teal'c: That he is concealing something.
          Colonel Jack O'Neill: Like what?
          Teal'c: I am unsure. He is concealing it.

            Ratings have and always will be subjective. People have been misleading stats for years why would ratings be any different? The fact is people are always spinning these number in favor and disfavor a show

                um yeah so? higher ratings don't necessarily mean more viewers

                301 NML -> 1.54, 1.9 million viewers (after live +7)
                401 Adrift -> 1.41, 2 million viewers (after live +7)

                320 FS -> 1.5, just under 2 million viewers (for live +sd)
                420 TLM -> 1.5, 2.1 million viewers (for live +sd)

                btw if you want to discuss ratings and viewers I suggest should check out the ratings thread

                  No

                  The off topic ratings arguement is about if Weir's departure helped or hurt the show My opinion is we will never know due to the subjective nature of ratings

                    the numbers improved. we'll never know if this was because of Weir or any other character but you can't change the facts

                      Sure tell Nielsen and SCI FI that it doesn't count.

                      When you compare apples to apples aka Live + 7 to Live + 7, Season 4 averaged more viewers than Season 3. That is a fact and not a spin. Since some people stress that "Live" viewers only count. Season 4.5 averaged more "live" viewers than Season 3.5!

                      Don't look at the ratings point from 3 years ago. They don't mean the same thing. A 1.5 back when Season 3 aired did not weigh as much as a 1.5 now.

                      Edit: I'm not trying to be a jerk, but when I have done the research and have actually seen the numbers it makes it a little hard to swallow the accusations.

                        » I think I'll just stick to what jelly says. We'll never know for sure, as is the case in this entanglement of numbers.

                          Even if you completely ignore the ratings, season 4 drew more viewers, that much is fact.

                              This question has been answered several times now - to all intents and purposes, Weir is NOT in Season 5. Torri certainly isn't. TPTB are going to wrap up the storyline and make reference to Weir or Weir's consciousness but we won't SEE Weir at all - or if we do it'll be her "consciousness" inside a different looking replicator. The character of Weir as we know it is gone.

                              The clips in the promo were from Season 2 and Skiffy included them in the promo because they looked good and dramatic and because their promo monkeys are idiots.
