Well, I can't say I would have made the Kessel Run in 12 parsecs, either.

And surprising, since it has been over 5 years since I'd had a full cleaning. I'd had other dental work done in that time, but never got into the office for the cleaning. I know, I know. Bad JT!

And I am sure they learned a lot of new things about you. I am sure you feel more relaxed now you have met them all. It is always a challenge meeting new people. I am sure you will fit right in.

I hope they are not fearful for their jobs with how much you know & how competent you are. OmuCQe7.gif

I’m done with classes. For a week anyway . No snow here but supposed to rain all day tomorrow.

It hasn’t been 5 years, but I’m overdue a dental cleaning too. It’s just- there is so much maintenance going on for a body these days, lol. All the regular annual things, specialist appointments and orthopedic appointments because my knee has been super cranky for the past 2 months. I think that’s what makes it hard for me. It’s not the one appointment. I just get so weary of ALL the appointments. I miss young me lol.

FH it’s nice you are getting some time with the new colleagues before starting. Less like being the new kid at school, but I may have missed some posts, did you already know people at the new job?

They don't have anything to fear cause I'll be the "dumbest" one around at the new place, even though they put the title of Experienced RPA developer underneath my picture in the powerpoint presentation (also used the my LinkedIn picture where I sorta forgot I'm wearing my full chainmail outfit so yeah... they already know I'm having some fun hobbies ).

I did not know anyone, though one of the founders has been a LinkedIn connection for several years. I thought he worked for a company that we worked with, but turned out I was wrong though he does know them. He had dealings with them and from what I can gather, the other company and them are not on friendly terms. Competitors they may be but the others played some seriously dirty games apparently. Fairplay wasn't in their manual.

          ****

In other news, I'm one episode away from reaching the end of Star Trek Enterprise and the only redeeming quality that show had was Trip and T'Pol (and Flox is fun too). They pretty much cancelled themselves, I think. What a mess that 4th season was, especially the Mirror episodes. Those made me cringe so hard. Bleh, appalling television.

Season 1 and 2 are okay, if you ignore the intro theme (horrible that was)... and then season 3 is clearly the beginning of the end.

Eeep. Glad I skipped out on Enterprise, then.

Sparky is on screen. Therefore, it is canon. Elizabeth is still out there. And John WILL bring her home.

I saw A Man Called Otto in the theater today. My eyes are still puffy from crying (and I HATE crying in public). But it was really quite excellent.

YES!!!! So many body parts have their own appointments. Eyes, teeth, etc. Too many freaking appointments! I need to see my skin doctor too. That's another one I've put off. My damn so-pale-it's-almost-translucent skin!

Sorry about your knee. I have back problems myself, so I know the struggle of chronic pain.

Me too! After I got burned by the ending of Voyager, I swore off new Trek series. Seems like that was a good idea.

Oh, but then you're missing out on Picard which is EPIC!**

I would have watched Picard if it wasn't on a streaming platform that I'd have to pay for, and I already pay for too many streaming services in addition to cable and I'm sick and tired of the whole freaking thing (she said in her grumpy old woman voice). So there's that.

Good morning, Sparkies! Happy Fluffy Thursday!

It's foggy. Like, so foggy it feels like you're all alone sitting on the edge of the world. Creepy, but cool.

                        So this happened...

Went out with colleagues and my previous teamlead, and at one point the conversation turns to our new teamlead and how he's doing. Obviously, my resignation is mentioned and that he was quite in shock when I informed him of my future intentions. My previous teamlead confirmed that he was quite shaken up about the news and one of my colleagues continues by mentioning that during their one-on-one he talked about it and that he didn't know how to proceed and whether she could help him figure it out. Another colleague at the table said that he asked her what they needed and she had jokingly answered "what we need is FH". However, then one of the male colleagues said that he told our "fearless leader" that I would never have left if our previous leader was still in charge.

Everybody around the table laughed, while he remained sorta seriously silent and then he said that wasn't actually how he said it and then he gave me a look and I knew that he did say it like that cause that's how he is. I snorted and knew enough. And yeah... maybe he's right but in the end we'll never know.

Had a nice evening out. Lots of fun and laughs. Definitely gonna miss working with these people. I hope we can continue to be friends -- know them for 8 years so hopefully many more to come.

So today (wait, no it's yesterday now) I saw "Women Talking" at the theater. It was very good, and I can see why it has Oscar buzz. It's got that kind of vibe about it. There was no mass crying in this one.

I have found that you don't really stay friends with former coworkers as much as you thought you would. But a group of my former coworkers still do get together every few months for a dinner out. I haven't attended lately cause I don't want to have to explain that I can't find a job. So maybe it's just me and not the former coworkers.

Anyway, I'm glad you had a nice night out! And to the "fearless leader" conversation!! Managers really do matter (having had bad ones, very bad ones, and truly awful ones in the past myself).

And now I'm going to watch some SGA. I'm thinking Home and The Storm/The Eye.

The episode Home makes me feel so badly for John. Rodney realizes things are wrong when the science is wrong. Elizabeth realizes because people aren't acting the correct way. But John? He knows because things are too nice. Ouch.

And John's "you're dead" comments always remind me of the story the nurses told us after my mom's first heart surgery. The drugs they use for that are so strong that people tend to get a little whack-a-doodle afterwards, and my mom was one of them. She thought one of the nurses was a dead neighbor of ours, but then she started to doubt that the nurse was the neighbor so my mom started asking questions like "do you know my daughter?", etc. After not getting answers she liked, my mom told the nurse dismissively "it doesn't matter, because you're dead anyway!" That story still cracks me up. My mom could be very funny, even if she wasn't trying to.

Definitely true for the bunch from a former job.
But we weren't as connected as I am with several now -- definitely never went away on weekends with that bunch.
