Oh it's one of *the* AUs. I know about that one. Since it's a crossover with West Wing most of it gets over my head because West Wing was loooong time ago for me.

What I want is John and Lizzie really getting *into* politics and related topics - it begs for a hilarious discussion, totally. Do you think John would say stuff just to annoy her?

I think it'd also get pretty heated, as he's military and she's decidedly NOT...it could be a really fun fic!

(of course this is coming from the tree-hugging-make-love-not-war hippy girl who served in the Army...I'm nothing if not a bundle of contradictions...lol)

I saw it partially - what I saw of it was good, but I think I was way too young to grasp all the implications and everything going on there. It's a show I'd definitely rewatch. They talk awfully lot, I remember that. (and Josh was my favorite character.)

I'm actually feeling really rebellious these days. We have this science day and they made these really detailed requirements on how our posters have to look, so that they are all the same. Stuff like font, font size, what parts should be bold, how many pts from the top the logo and title should be, distance between title and author... *yawn* All normalised. There were so many requirements that I took the liberty to change the font. *hehe* Arial just sucks on posters. I also removed the required Max Planck logo, because I have nothing to do with them and one of their department leaders pissed me off some time ago.

Hmm... sounds like you'd be a great candidate to write a fic like that!

Start with The Pacific Rim, then read Revelation. Those were the first two stories written for the series and really set up the rest of the universe.

I find men are often like that, they tease you, to amke you mad, to show you they care. It's a weird but adorable logic (whan you watch it on film). Totally suits John, I think.

The thing about AUs is that I'm getting slowly tired of AUs where all of them do super special seekrit stuff, or super special awesome stuff like almost running the country, world, galaxy, whatever. Any kind of super awesome stuff (maybe that's me and my high society revulsion. IDK. Lot of people seem to portray Elizabeth like the best of the best of the best..... it's making me slightly tired. Why not making her good or very good, but still an ordinary person? I always saw her like that.)

What I really really enjoy are the fics where we can see them in everyday or almost everyday jobs and situations and Elizabeth doesn't have to be on absolute top of the world for a change.

ITA...I am not a huge fan of AU fics to begin with...I just have a hard time seeing the characters in roles other than the ones I've already been given. The AUs that I do enjoy have the characters doing normalish everyday things....I like when they're normal people and not the absolute very best people in the world....

I can only guess that they wanted to keep Weir's storyline tied in with the Asuran Replicator storyline, so they kinda had to bring her back for those two, as well as GitM.

They've never listened to the fans. If they had, well, Atlantis would still be on the air, Weir and Beckett would be back full time and we'd finally have some resolution for Sheppard/Weir.

I think part of it is simply wanting to do better, cooler things with the character than what the writers/producers did with her on the show. And I have no problem with that. Heck, wanting to do that was the driving force behind the choices I made for where she ended up in my Big Bang fic. Certainly, in AUs like West Gate and Stargate!Ren, Elizabeth is not perfect by any stretch of the imagination. She makes mistakes, bad stuff happens to her, so it's not all wall-to-wall Goddess of Perfection.

Yup, I did. My guess is, TPTW did the bare minimum of token episodes they could get away with to clear the decks and get rid of her and anything connected with her (like the Replicators), so they could move on to playing with their new shiny toys.

Oh please. It's like saying "Voldemort" in Harry Potter's world. Call the thing by it's name. I was born in ex Yugoslavia. That country was better in many things than the one I live in now. The "S" thing wasn't so scary as you might think, and yes, our healthcare is very good. I am familiar with US politics up to some level, but I would never tell you "you're right about this and wrong about that". That would be unfair and uncalled for. I don't live there, but you do.

If I ever write a fic like that it's going to stay at my journal and will never be published anywhere else because I had enough wank already, caused by a really innocent topic (when compared to politics). So.

I didn't see your Elizabeth as some kind of superhero though...she was still very human

imo....and I loved her in your fic!
