Have you ever read Terry Pratchett? This conversation reminds me so much of the Auditors... Who come up with all kinds of ridiculous ideas for the discworld universe, like sending Death into retirement (which causes a massive chaos, because people still stop living without actually dying) or to do away with the Hogfather (=father christmas), which has the consequence that people believe in all kinds of creatures.

Don't try to kill yourself after this or kill me. It's not my goal. It's a "hommage" to Monsieur Flanigan.

Awww. I love him for that. When watching The Rising you never would have guessed that he could do so serious acting.

Damn, why is it that I'm a sucker for tragic romances?

*sigh* Once upon a time I used to love Sparky because they were flirting so happily.

Let me guess: It was the money, right? It's always the money.

Or the educational value they promised me. Why else would I work 60 hours a week and be paid a ridiculous amount of money that only barely covers living costs?


And now I want to see some happiness, Sparkies, because we don't want to be talking about how tragic their ending was when we hit 90 000.

I agree with you on the fact that they should have made a proper story out of it, if they had to have her die. Instead they totally ignored her and although I don't know what was going on behind the scenes, I got the feeling they didn't want it to work. And that she was reluctant because it was such a low priority to them.

I would have a hard time believing she was anything but his girlfriend. She looked completely shocked when he was stabbed, called him "Donny"; was quite comfortable in his house; called Gibbs worried when he took off; held him when he cried at the end; and Gibbs gives her 'the Gibbs smiling face', which he doesn't do for everyone except those he approves of:

Personally, because Torri is a mature woman, I had no problem with the relationship. Yes, Ducky is much older than she, but this isn't May-December like some other relationships I've seen. She looked beautiful and played off David McCallum (and Mark Harmon) really well. I hope that she comes back!

Oh, and as a curly-headed girl, I'm 99% sure Torri's hair is naturally curly. It looked amazing in the first few seasons when she left it curly, and it's much harder to get perfect curl from a straight head of hair than it is to straighten curly hair and make it look nice. It takes a few hours to get my hair looking like it's never heard of curl, but it can be done.

Either that, or she had a kick*** hair stylist who did great perms.

Although they are not the classic tragic romance (and if someone compares them to Romoe and Juliet I'm gonna scream). What I love is that realistic aspect of the friendship part of their relationship; mutual respect and being on the same wavelenght, and ultimately, having their hearts set on the same goal. They would both totally sacrifice themsleves for their freinds, for the city, for the other. They both have great capacity for suffering, just to save others from that same suffering. And the tragic part is, IMO; the fact that they're so perfect for each other, they fit so well, and lose each other (in canon).

R&J is the sort of antithesis of what they were. Young, impassioned love, rather than mature, rational understanding. I will draw comparisons to West Side Story for the outcome, however--the sense of losing something bigger than yourself due to larger forces at work. But I've never seen John and Elizabeth wrapped into passion--it was always 'connection' that could have led to passion had anyone really gone there.

Happy football Saturday, y'all! I'm trying to decide if I go and do a little Christmas shopping or go home and veg and watch football for 12 hours. Since H*** week is overwith, and I have no tennis competitions for a little while, I have this free day, and I have no idea what to do with it!!!
