I am definitely very excited about this movie. It has the potential to be something very special. I just hope it lives up to that potential.

Mads Mikkelsen and Alexa Davalos have been cast in the Clash Of The Titans remake, says The Hollywood Reporter.

Mikkelsen (Casino Royale) will join fellow Bond franchise alumnus Gemma Arterton (as demi-godess Io) in the Greek epic. He will portray Draco, the leader of the Praetorian Guard which joins Perseus (Sam Worthington) on his quest.

Davalos, meanwhile, will star as Princess Andromeda.

Praetorian guard is Roman not Greek.

I do hope it is better than the first one.

Warner Brothers Releases Official "Clash Of The Titans" Synopsis

In "Clash of the Titans," the ultimate struggle for power pits men against kings and kings against gods. But the war between the gods themselves could destroy the world. Born of a god but raised as a man, Perseus (Sam Worthington) is helpless to save his family from Hades (Ralph Fiennes), vengeful god of the underworld. With nothing left to lose, Perseus volunteers to lead a dangerous mission to defeat Hades before he can seize power from Zeus (Liam Neeson) and unleash hell on earth. Leading a daring band of warriors, Perseus sets off on a perilous journey deep into forbidden worlds. Battling unholy demons and fearsome beasts, he will only survive if he can accept his power as a god, defy his fate and create his own destiny.

"Clash of the Titans" is being directed by Louis Leterrier ("The Incredible Hulk"). Leading the international cast is Australian actor Sam Worthington ("Terminator Salvation," the upcoming "Avatar") as Perseus, the mortal son of Zeus, king of the gods. Academy Award® nominee Liam Neeson ("Taken," "Schindler's List") takes on the role of the mighty Zeus, and Academy Award® nominee Ralph Fiennes (the "Harry Potter" films, "The English Patient") plays the role of Hades, god of the underworld, who feeds on human fear. Rounding out the cast is Gemma Arterton ("Quantum of Solace") as Io, Perseus' mysterious spiritual guide throughout his journey; Mads Mikkelsen ("Casino Royale") as Draco, who takes up his sword to join Perseus' quest; Jason Flemyng ("The Curious Case of Benjamin Button") as Acrisius, a one-time king turned hideous beast; and Alexa Davalos ("Defiance") as Andromeda
, a princess doomed to lose her life if Perseus does not succeed.

Based on the 1981 film of the same name, written by the late Beverley Cross, "Clash of the Titans" is directed by Louis Leterrier from a screenplay by Phil Hay & Matt Manfredi ("Aeon Flux"), story by Travis Beacham ("Dog Days of Summer") and Hay & Manfredi. The film is produced by Basil Iwanyk ("We Are Marshall") and Kevin De La Noy ("The Dark Knight"). The executive producers are Academy Award® winner Richard D. Zanuck and Legendary Pictures' Thomas Tull, Jon Jashni and William Fay.

                      Worthington: 'Clash effects beat original'

Sam Worthington has reportedly revealed that special effects in the Clash Of The Titans remake surpass those of the original film.

The Terminator Salvation actor signed on to play Perseus in director Louis Leterrier's update of the 1981 Greek mythology-based picture in November.

The original employed stop-motion animated effects by Ray Harryhausen, who had worked on bringing inanimate objects to life in features such as Jason And The Argonauts, The 7th Voyage Of Sinbad and One Million Years B.C.. Titans marked his retirement from filmmaking.

However, Worthington said that today's technology has vastly improved the capabilities for action sequences in the reboot.

He told MTV: "Nowadays, you have the privilege of CG. So what the guys and Louis have set out to do is raise the Richter scale to 11 in the sense of the scorpions are the size of dump trucks, and Medusa's a lot quicker, a lot scarier."

9 Awesome Clash Of The Titans Posters!

These 9 one sheets may vary in the finished product, but Harry over at AICN has got some early glimpses sent from his "spies", and here they are in all their glory...

These posters feature the first glimpses of Ralph Feinnes as Hades,(The one that should be Liam Neeson as Zeus in the silver armor also appears to have Fiennes' face!) Pegasus, The Kraken and, most importantly, Medusa! Those of you who have not seen the original may want to be aware of one poster in particular being pretty spoilerific.
