I thought turkish delight were marachino cherries covered in dark chocolate. Never did like them.

Actually, Turkish Delight (called 'lokum' in Turkey, being an Ottoman invention) is quite a bit heavier in consistency than Jelly/Jell-O, because it's not set with gelatine.

Lokum is a boiled sugar syrup thickened with cornflour and then flavoured with rosewater, fruit flavourings, orange flower water, pistachio nuts etc. etc. Once it cools down, it goes quite solid and is cut into squares for nibbling with your Turkish Coffee.

It's extremely sticky, so it needs to be thickly coated in icing sugar before you can handle it.

Despite being quite sweet, it's actually quite more-ish (I love it!) - even if it's not been rendered magically addictive by the White Witch!

No problem. Going back to the chocolate connection, Turkish Delight and Choccy go together very nicely. I can think of three UK Choccy companies who do Turkish Delight chocolates, Fry's do the best known one in the UK (anyone remember those wonderfully silly adverts they used to have for it?).

Cadbury's do one now, too. Thorntons also do 'chocolate box' sized Turkish Delight choccies, and they do them in small bags too. The ultimate temptation...

There's a description of the trailer up at NarniaWeb. The trailer sounds cool, especially if we get to see shots of Mr. Tumnus and Aslan.

Also apparently Brian Cox is no longer the voice of Aslan. Apparently they wanted a younger sounding voice.

WOW, now I'm giddy. And believe me, it's difficult to make me giddy at this time of the night . That sounds amazing; another reason I can't wait to see Revenge of the Sith . I'm a bit saddened by the bit about Lucy's hair though...makes me wonder what else might have changed due to "director's preference." LOTR has made me a bit cynical regarding movie versions of beloved books in that regard (I believe something very close to those exact words was PJ's justification for cutting the Scouring of the Shire ,) but I'm willing to reserve judgement on that until I see the movie. (Plus I can't feel cynical and giddy at the same time, and giddiness is winning, at least for now. )

...Oh...my...god...! I just watched a behind the scenes video on the Official Website for 'The Chronicles of Narnia'. It is going to be awesome..!!! They have the director of Shrek, they're using WETA that brought us 'The Lord of the Rings', and they're using New Zealand and the Czech Republic for the landscapes. I saw the weapons, mythological creatures, and some of the CGI. This movie is going to ROCK..!! I think the plan is to make a movie for each of the Narnia books. In that, it is going to be very much like Harry Potter. If the video doc I saw, was any indication... I can't wait until December...! I was mildly interested before... Now I'm PSYCHED..!!!

I've heard the Chronicles of Narnia will be an excellent movie. I know it will be excellent, since most of the special effects work will be coming from the same production house that gave us Lord of the Rings. With that kind of experience, only the best will be produced, I'm sure.

True; whatever problems LOTR had, the visuals were DEFINITELY not among them.

I just really hope that they make Aslan majestic enough. When I was a kid reading the books he always seemed like this larger than life, glowing-like-Moses, massive, could-knock-you-over-just-by-looking incredible Lion. Not just a 'big' Lion, but a really POWERFUL Lion. A creature you could believe was capable of pretty much anything. That is the only part I worry about. My imagination overwhelming what the Visual creators put on film. I'm afraid my expectations are simply too high for Aslan. I saw a 'model' of Aslan on the Chronicles of Narnia website (a subsite on Disney website), and it made me worried about that. Everything else looks like it is going to be awesome, though. Granted, the 'model' was just that... a little porcelain model, with no special effects or anything. So maybe my fears are unjustified.

I think how majestic Aslan is depends greatly on who's going to voice him.

I'm just curious to see what Mr Tumnus looks like. I was suprised when they picked James McAvoy, I'd always imagine him to be older. But I didn't mind since it's James McAvoy.

                            Just discovered this thread...

Does anyone remember the animated version of TLTWATW... that is the one I still think of whenever I think of the book. It was pretty good... I have toyed with the idea of getting the DVD.
I still have my copy of The Silver Chair and The Last Battle from when I was 11. Yeah, I'm a hoarder...

I'm so glad other people are looking forward to seeing this movie. I loved these books as a kid and have reread them many times. I just watched the trailer today--have you seen it? What did you think? I think it looks just amazing. I can't wait to see it!

I just bought the entire 'Chronicles of Narnia' today... It was all the books, in a single paper-back book. It starts with, 'The Magicians Apprentice' and ends with 'The Last Battle'. I decided to reread them all to refamiliarize myself with the story again, before I see the movie. I love Books-A-Million...
