        can't wait for the DVDs.

hopefully closer to 2 months than 3 after the UK release...i want them before spring!!

i guess it would be too much to ask for them to cut a broadcast deal and just skip right to the Tennant series...
        Thanks!

Equality is not a concept. It's not something we should be striving for. It's a necessity. Equality is like gravity. We need it to stand on this earth as men and women. And the misogyny that is in every culture is not a true part of the human condition. It is life out of balance, and that imbalance is sucking something out of the soul of every man and woman who is confronted with it.

Huh? That was it? A spinning Christmas tree!

Mind you, it will be all the better for us viewers if they don't give too much away. There's far too many spoilers these days, especially for Stargate.

Surprised to see that Jackie and Mickey are still going to be part of an ongoing arc... Not a bad thing... Nice to see some continuity happening with the people that Rose left behind.

hopefully some of the bigger online retailers will have discounted pre-sale prices.

however, this release will be test. it's a jacked up price but if it doesn't sell, it's an indicator that the market isn't in the US for ongoing Who.

BBC themselves said it that they're only releasing it in the US to try and offset illegal downloading or copying and shipping of video from countries that have it to countries that don't.

Personally, I think the the mention of being in negotiation with SCIFI or anybody else to carry Who is a smoke screen and all they're doing is trying to recoup losses from not having the show in the US market for initial broadcast and downloading.

Hopefully I'm wrong on that, but I've heard nothing since the release of the Eccleston run to indicate that any US carrier is really interested in Who. Even PBS, the longtime carrier didn't want to pick it up.
                          Thanks!

I am going to look for a good price, but I'll get it sooner or later.

The reason PBS or Sci-Fi or whoever else they showed it to didn't pick it up is this: cost. BBC-WA was asking for WAY more than any network here was willing to pay for an untested property in which they have no financial stake. They essentially priced themselves out of the market.

Now they are compounding the problem by overcharging gfor the DVD set, just because they think they can. The only thing this all shows was that the BBC has absolutely no understanding of the US market. They could have gotten Doctor Who onto a US network like Sci-Fi by offering a bargain price for series 1, subject to renegotiation if it did well. They could have created a backdoor market with the DVD release, if they hit that magic $45 "blind buy" price. They chose not to. They like to come up with one pricing the shop to all markets equally, which to my mind is just flat out lazy. It requires no market research.
