Honestly I really don't give a damn about piracy. Contrary to the MPAA's lies, they continue to make more and more money with each passing year. I saw Star Trek twice pirated, three times in theaters, and now own it on Blu-ray.
Star Trek was a staggering success by any measure, and clearly being among the most pirated movies of the year did nothing to negatively influence that. I'd be willing to bet that it probably actually positively influenced Star Trek's success--as word of mouth continued to spread and the demand for seeing it in better quality increased."A society grows great when old men plant trees, the shade of which they know they will never sit in. Good people do things for other people. That's it, the end." -- Penelope Wilton in Ricky Gervais's After Life

Hah! $10 for a movie ticket, $10-15 more for food and drink--three times before buying it on the expensive format--and I'm the thief? That's a brilliant bit of deductive logic, there
Like I said: obviously high piracy didn't hurt the film. At all. The movie was a stunning success by any film standards, even moreso when you consider that it's not only a sci-fi film, but a Star Trek film on top of that."A society grows great when old men plant trees, the shade of which they know they will never sit in. Good people do things for other people. That's it, the end." -- Penelope Wilton in Ricky Gervais's After Life

Star Trek defeats Transformers at SAG awards
The Screen Actors Guild gave out its awards on Saturday, and familiar non-sci-fi films took home the big acting prizes, while Star Trek beat out Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, among other films, for stunt ensemble in a motion picture. 24 nabbed stunt ensemble in a television series
