    My thoughts exactly.

Tough choice, overall. O'Brien and Bashir and the female shapeshifter are also-rans.

        Ouch. This question hurts.

Ben Sisko is may favorite SF captain-- hands down, over Kirk, Picard, Janeway and Archer. DS9 is my favorite Star Trek.

But I drool over Julian Bashir.

oh elim garak was my favourite tha banter between him and odo in the episode two parter the die is cast is superb the dark side of garak as him being the old interrogater garak and the good side him saving odo's lifes and his funny yet crude jokes not bad for a cardassian who i think many people dislike not just because thay are the bad guys in the show but they may seem a little uninteresting but they were probably the best with the characters.

garak- cockey and mysterious with his dark and light side
dammar- his insoborbdanate attitude to the dominion and his gradual fall into his alchohol addiction
dukat- his calm face and his pure evil side in the episode "waltz" pure character driven episodes are a bet that a cardasian is in their somewhere.

Hard to choose, since there are so many great and well-developed characters in DS9.

In the end, I went for Odo...

The show was so unlike any other Star Trek in it's successful ensemble approach that it is very difficult to pick a favorite. I went with Elim Garak, but I could have just as easily chosen Odo, or even an option not listed, General Martok. Two out of the three aren't even regular cast members, but just frequently appearing guest stars. The villains were also fantastic. Kai Wynn and Gul Dukat were remarkably well portrayed, as was Weyoun.

the actors and actresses who started off a bit weak were professional and polished in their roles in short order. The delicious Nana Visitor who was challenged by "Duet" early in the show was polished an believable as Kira Nerys by the beginning of Season 4. Cirroc Lofton, probably the most understandably green in his role as Jake Sisco, was really quite good by Season 5.

had to vote for Ezri for the purely superficial reason that Nicole DeBoer is such a nice person...I'm not saying that the rest of the cast arent, it's just she's one of the ones I've met and I was a little girl, starstruck.

It was a tough choice between O'Brien, Bashir and Sisko, but in the end it had to be Sisko purely because he is THE MAN he is the best Captain and he totally kicks ass.

It was hard to choose, the characters are some of the best Star Trek has to offer. But, although Sisko and Bashir were close, Garak is definately the best. Apart from everything else cool about Garak, the fact that he was a claustrophobic Cardassian spy just puts him that far above the rest.

Sheppard: "Y’know, we’ve been having these conversations for a couple of weeks now, and I don’t even know your name. You guys do have names, right? Let me guess...Steve?"
Wraith: "I am your death. That is all you need to know."
                    Sheppard: "I prefer Steve."

Glad to see Garak has the most votes... I voted for him, of course.

Hard to say anything that hasn't already been said. He had some of the best moments in the series, that he did. He is capable of just about anything...

DS9 is my favorite, too, although my favorite captain is Janeway. As for Julian, I used to think I was all alone in my swooning. It's good to see a kindred spirit!

Well there was Tasha Yar before her, if you count her.

Garak was by far the most mysterious, who knows what he's done in the past.
The truth is out there. Getting there, well thats a whole different can of worms.

Julian Bashir, definitely. What can I say, I have a thing for docs! And he wasn't even wearing a lab coat...

The docs on ST were all pretty good and round characters. I liked Julian a lot, a greenhorn at first, geeky and arrogant, who learned and changed so much during the seven years. I liked the story about his genetical enhancement, and that he had this strange friendship with Garak and this warm friendship with Miles!

                                Garak, plain and simple.

But it's such a hard choice.
Bashir was the one I drooled over (those eyes, that voice, those endless legs...)
The Sisko was well, The Dude, say no more.
Kira was so feisty and full of fire.
O'Brien was in my favourite buddy relationship of the show, Bashir and O'Brien were comedy gold (and Meaney is such a superb actor)
Odo was a grumpy old bugger, gotta love him, in particular his buddy relationship with Quark.
Quark himself for thumbing his nose at the Federation and it's ideals.
Jadzia and Ezri for eye candy - particularly Dax in the TOS era outfit or little Ezri in her waitress kit during the casino heist.

FF, who sometimes forgets how much she loved that show
