One of the students where I teach walked in with a brown version of the Jayne Hat and I just said "Shiny hat" to him. His facial expression showed him NOT to be a browncoat. I told him to rent the firefly dvds, he'll understand.

The funny thing is, my junior high choir generally seems to like my sense of humor. When they did a great job on a run-through today, I said "That was just.... shiny" with a big grin on my face. I didn't see any looks of recognition that they watched Firefly, but if I say that a couple more times in the context of positive reinforcement, they'll probably all start saying it. They're a fun bunch of kids to work with, I'm lucky as a teacher, I guess

not I... I'm a recent conversion to the ranks of the browncoats, and my spare funds are tied up in paying off my new bass (see shadow's sulky thread for the painful saga of that), then a new effects processor (a line 6 bass pod XT live), then finally a 4x10 cab and amp stack (I'm heavily leaning towards a Gallien-Kruger rig, but we'll see). Once tax refund time comes around, I may order the firely schwag I want (and galactica, and SG-1.....)
