Trump won because the Democrats screwed up. He was (and is) a highly polarizing person. So was Hillary. But more people disliked Hillary, and we had 8 years of moving towards the left under Obama the LSOS.

If the Dems had run another candidate, even Sanders, they had a very good shot at winning. If you recall, I was surprised Trump won.

And if you look at the Dems today, they're really all screwed up. They're likely to burn their resources with intramural squabbling before the primaries are done. Combine that with their hard lurch towards socialism, They're quite likely to screw the pooch again.
