Throw matter at them, if a large amount of matter intersects the beam 200m from the hive probably it will difuse and impact say an 10m*10m area rather than 1m^2, causing 100 times less penetration. This work similar to spaced armour but as the distance is greater the effect it's bigger.
An automated system probably will work better than some suicide dart pilots.

Shields don't seem to work, even really powerful ones, thick dense armor now that works.
