and it makes me think. what if the Asurans never made MORE ZPM's? the three atlantis had should've powered it for thousands and thousands of years. the Asurans had even more. the ones they made 10 000 years ago should have been enough, even for 10 000 years into the future.

the Wraith more or less put them to standby mode, so what if they actually DID do NOTHING for the past god-knows-how-long years. not building ZPM's, not maintaining everything, just walking around and... thinking.

the best reason i can give for their crappy performance is still the same.

1: using earth's knowledge of Ancient technology, and using previous experience with the asurans and replicators, everyone was well-informed on combat matters and tactics and how to fight them

2: repliweir and her faction, knowing that this was their one shot, worked from the inside, weakening the Asurans.

3: the asurans, churning out some 30 to 60 Aurora's in a few days, used mediocre materials like iron in their design, and not superhigh-quality materials like the Asgard and the Ancients use.

4: due to their lack of ZPM's (all were needed for their city) their ships had none
or maybe a zpm less aurora is nothing more than a mobile drone launcher and not all that?

The thing is though the Asuran Aurora's were firing predominantely energy based pulse weapons. Also barring in mind 10,000 year old damaged Aurora's have instantly raped Wraith ships in battle before and the fact the Asurans only managed to destroy a single Hive becomes very odd indeed.

A mobile Antarctic super weapon would mince fleets of Wraith ships, which is what an Aurora should be. Now while we haven't seen an Ancient Aurora fire off so many drones at once we know a single salvo can easily take out a Hive ship in seconds. With that in mind 30 Aurora's should take out 7 Hives instantly, the Asuran Aurora's didn't so it appears they are inferior.
Robert Jastrow (self-proclaimed agnostic): "For the scientist who has lived by his faith in the power of reason, the story ends like a bad dream. He has scaled the mountains of ignorance; he is about to conquer the highest peak; as he pulls himself over the final rock, he is greeted by a band of theologians who have been sitting there for centuries."

        1. There is some logic to your argument which is very unfanboyish.
        2. The hives were spread out evenly with travellers inspersed and our own ships along with a real life aurora in the mix too. Had our armada been orbiting atlantis and 30 ausuran auroras dropped out of hyperspace it could have been a much different battle.
        3. Wraith seemed concerned about repli's enough to cooperate. I'm assuming they had good reason.
        4. a mobile drone launcher is only effective if your target doesn't leave when the drones are lanched
        5. we know the turning point of the wraith war was when zpms were pulled from auroras and wraith numbers increased which leveled the playing field because every single battle was on the wraiths instead of ancient terms.

Actually they didn't even manage that. One looks like it blows up but it's back again in the scene where they all jump away apparently.

Maybe Todd's alliance's hives were of better quality than the ones in No Mans Land were. That's the other possibility here and potentially the more likely one even. Everyone naturally tends to assume that the Ancient Auroras must be junkier than real Auroras but it gets kind of hard to think of a reason why replicators wouldn't be able to make Auroras just as good or better than ancient ones. If Todds hives were just better than the one that got smoked in no mans land though that's easier to explain, since his faction did after all go on to make a super hive just a couple years later, a ship that could eat Atlantis' lunch never mind Auroras. His faction is just near the top of the heap in terms of tech mastery and power, where as the "Allies" queen was probably near the bottom, which would explain why she'd even be willing to take Michael in and consider his plan.
