a) plasma canons are trademaks of bad scifi.

b) you would need a diferent barel to fire plasma, it just doesn't work that way.

I think the real question here is, Why are they using a short CQB weapon for every application? Running across a field while shooting with a p90 isn't really effective you need a longer ranged weapon.

They do have other weapons, but apparently SG-1 finds that P-90's are the best all around weapons for their missions.

Yeah I understand that but a p90 isn't the best all around weapon. Its way to short for any long range engagement. A carbine would work best, maybe an m-16 variant?
