< Recovery 2 -> Recovery 1 -> Waiting area >
Carrie just stood there, listening. Not really sure of what to make of it all. It was one thing theorizing about the possibility that Nat was a telepath… and an Ancient.
Something completely different to actually have it in black and white in front of her, more or less having the truth shoved in her face like this.
It was one thing to emotionally detach oneself when standing in a life-or-death situation; you did what you had to do, you got in to action and saved the life. They’ve all worked to get her back, and she had no regrets for doing so, that was what she did for a living, what she was good at. That was what she’d done for Bisenti last night…
Yes, she was scared; no reason of hiding it, Nat had just stated that she more or less could read minds, right? And that it actually was a part of her who was responsible for the attack on Bisenti. She did think he deserve some kind of punishment; that was not the issue, but being attacked by a psychic... and nearly killed?
She shuddered a little and swallowed hard as she continued to listen as her patient tried to explain what had happened during her “coma”. Part of her wanted to run away; part of wanted to stay and know more…
‘Guess I not so different when it really comes down it.’
She heard Gus voice in a distance, stating something about them always being there for Nat, and deep down she knew he was right, she would be there if needed, but as it was now she felt a need to get out of the room, to get back to some normalcy as it was now days.
Carrie offered Nat a smile, hoping but knowing that the woman saw right through her, ‘I’ll cross that bridge later…’
“Nat, I’ll stop by and see you later” and then turned towards Gus and Delen, “I’ll be in the Med bay if you need me,” before getting out in the hallway, stumbling on Sam as he came back from retrieving the clothes for Nat.
“Sorry Sam, you ok?”
He gave her a grin, “I’m fine, we really need to stop seeing each other like this, tumbling in to each other every now and then... Look there’s a guy sitting in the waiting room, wanting to pay the captain a visit. Can you go and talk to him? He’s been there for awhile now.”
Carrie slipped a sigh, “Yeah, I’ll do that as soon as I’ve checked on Brihanna. Thanks for letting me know, see you later Sam”
She walked over to the door to Recovery 1 and stopped next too it for a few seconds, took a deep breath and rubbed her face with her palms, then gave the door a soft knock and stepped in.
Gloria gave her a nod of acknowledgment as she walked up and stood beside the head nurse.
“I see you got rid of Cooper? How did you do that?”
Gloria winked and handed Carrie the chart, “Trick of the trade?”
Carrie raised an eye brow and read the latest readings, 'Looks good so far' “It had to be...” she mumbled, grabbed the pen and scribbled down some orders before handing it back, “Let’s see what she says if we start cutting back on the drugs, I’d prefer to have her off the ventilator by the evening. I’ll be in the Med bay, okay?”
“Sure, I’ll get back to you as soon as she starts to come to.”
“Thanks… bye.” ‘Right, waiting area next then.’
Carrie took the long route pass the Iso rooms to get a set of scrubs and some equipment for taking care of Ryn’s wounds in the closets in the hallway before entering the waiting area and approached the man fiddling with a guitar, apparently the same man that had previously knocked on the CMO’s door during their meeting.
“Hi, I’m Doctor Carrie Svensson, you wanted to see captain Bystronsky, right? May I ask who you are?”
