You know, if he didn't involve Continuum, then I'd hazard a guess that he was criticising the supposed lack of creativity by starting the show in a desert like what happened in SG1 (which is a strange complaint, since there are only so many landforms that occur on a habitable world, and SG has done most of them).

I'm not sure which desert he's talking about. We know the show spends some time in the White Sands, which is pretty damn unique compared to any ole' regular desert we've seen in the past. Are there deserts before that?

You do realize that nobody on this thread understood what you were talking about, right? Are you really going to cross that line and say that all of us are fanboys and you're somehow better than us?

As evidenced by my original interpretation to your post, and how you're responding now, clearly I (and others in this thread) didn't get the point you were trying to make. Care to elaborate?
I'm with these guys. If it was one person that commented that they didnt understand fair enough, but to have a few people comment in the way they have, its clear that your original post wasnt clearly thought out when you typed it.

Count me in on not understanding that post either. I'm quite looking forward to new scenery other than just forests.

I maybe half-way understood it. He believes that filming in a desert isn't exactly a bold creative step? And he perhaps has issues with the Tok'ra Homeworld from "Continuum"? And he was sarcastically suggesting the addition of pyramids to the desert landscape as we have seen before in Stargate?

          My interpretation, at least.

              Update!

It came down to a mad scramble today because we took yesterday off to watch the Day 1 Mix of Air I and II. Composer Joel Goldsmith did a wonderful job with the score (my favorite cue comes near the very end of the second part) and the show itself looks fantastic (and, once the color timing is complete, fantasticker(?)). Even with temp visual effects, you get a sense of the scope of the story and it’s truly awesome. Director Andy Mikita should be very proud. The performances were terrific and I can’t think of a better way to show our appreciation than to invite the entire cast and crew to a private screening of the premiere. The actors are dying to see some of the cuts, but I keep telling them to hold off and wait for the finished version. It’ll blow them away. At this point, I feel like I’ve chipped in and bought them all the most incredible gift and simply can’t wait to see their reactions when they open it.

in the first few minutes of Rising (Atlantis) we see the Ancients millions of years ago leaving Earth. i hope they do the same thing for "Air". show the Ancients millions and millions of years ago launching both ships.

                        More update!

Late this afternoon, we watched the Final Mix of the two-part premiere with the VFX Finals. “Pretty good,”said Brad on the final fade. “No,”Carl was quick to correct him. “Great.” “Yeah,”Brad agreed. “It WAS pretty good.” “No,”Carl repeated himself, more emphatically this time. “Great!”. And I’d have to agree with Carl. As I was watching, all I could think was how good this would look on the big screen. And then I remembered – Hey, we’ll be doing a big screen cast and crew screening prior to the premiere so we will get to see it on the big screen! It will truly be awesome!

                          Update!

Today, we watched the Day 2 Mix of Air III. Wow! White Sands is a gorgeous location. It lends the episode a depth and scale usually reserved for features. Terrific performances all around (That Greer-Rush scene? Whoa!) and spectacular score by composer Joel Goldsmith make this one simply a great, great episode. In addition to Joel’s wonderful contributions, the episode also includes an established contemporary tune. This is something we rarely did in SG-1 and Atlantis but will be doing more of in SGU. Anyway, can’t wait to see this on the big screen with a proper sound system and, thankfully, I won’t have to wait long. We’ll be premiering the show’s first three episodes (Air I, II, and III) for the cast and crew sometime in September.

                            Update!

The pilot is FINISHED! Those who have seen it are over the moon. I'm personally gonna wait till we get a screening - Oct is too long for me.

                              Small update:

Lee writes: “A few days ago, you mentioned Air would use an “established contemporary tune”. You probably can’t tell us the name of the song, but any hints as to who the performer is?”

Answer: I’m embarrassed to say that, while I remember the song, I don’t remember the title or the artist. Also, even though it was Air I referenced, contemporary songs will feature throughout the show’s first season.

Uh-oh! Wait...why aren't more people here complaining that this just further proves that SGU will be 90210 set on the Voyager, that's Lost in Space, along with the Galactica?
