Because in my world, Sam sounds just like her mother (people tell me all the time how much I sound like my mom). The sound of her voice triggers the memories in Jacob, and he calls out for his wife. I've never heard "Sam" when Jacob speaks there--I've always heard that utterance as "Thea".

I've never thought of it like that, but I still hear Tham. I noticed selene uses Thea in her Strangers fic.

I've always thought that Sam's mother's name was "Thea" or something like unto. In "Jolinar's Memories" when they find Jacob, he mutters something like "Thea" which is what draws Sam's attention to him. I'm thinking that she knew it was her dad moaning because he (like Jack calling for Sara when he was losing consciousness in "Solitudes") called his dead wife's name. I think that hearing Sam's voice would have jarred Jacob's thought process towards his wife, and he called out for her in his delirium.

Some people say that what he says sounds like "Sam", but i have listened to it dozens of times and never heard that.
So, in my mind, Sam's mother's name was "Thea".

This is what it sounded like to me, as well, so if I reference her mom by name, I'm going to use 'Thea' (and I plan to have it a short version of 'Dorothea' -which is more common).

I have never thought of Grace as Sam's dream child. I've always seen her as Sam's conscience and the name "Grace" to be from the saying "Saving grace."

I always associated 'Grace' the same way -I never thought it was the name of the child in the ep.

Carter James "Carter" though I'm pretty sure Sam tried to push for "James" or "Jamie" as the use-name (ie, name used most often). She lost. There's a fic there too, no?
