on the upside, my students did MUCH better on today's test. On the first test the class average was 67. Very disappointing. Today's test class average - 80!

You have to figure it takes at least one test to see how a teacher does her tests. First tests should never count!

I let them use their notes and returned/graded work on their first test - just because they don't know what my tests are like until they've taken one or two!
