John Sheppard/Teyla Emmagan Appreciation/Ship/Discussion Thread

Some thoughts about last night's episode:

In Search & Rescue, JT fans were encouraged but now it seems that they are playing John & Teyla as keeping their distance and back to just being fellow co-workers. I thought Whispers was ok but I only enjoyed it because of Carson and Sheppard in it. I didn't understand either why Teyla or Ronon were not in this episode. They weren't even present in the beginning...at least we should have been given some reason why they didn't go with Sheppard on this mission.

The same can be asked of "Why didn't Rodney go?"

It wasn't just Teyla and Ronon.

I have to disagree about Whispers

I thought it was a good ep! But yeah, Shepp not knowing the all female team is a bit stupid - he does run the military on the base, yo know? He would know who they were. Stupid Joseph Mallozzi. But other than that, it was good. I was scared watching it (Ihate jumpy things) and I loved Carson

The JF one got me more than the RL one. He seemed kind of... I dunno. Bummed. And... didn't know what to say which I thought was kinda cute.

Oh and by the way, to those who read The Kindling part 6 - how good am I? Did I not write that Ca...

Sorry I hven't catch on all but almost

RL might not be pregnant now but she does have a son to raise. And her husband has been away filming, so SHE had to look after the little one. I'm not surprised and I think if she hadn't had her child (I'm not saying she shouldn't have had, just commenting) there wouldn't be as much Keller because RL would still be able to commit to the hours she had before.

She can't do that now, and I get that.

I don't want to say things that I'm not sure of but without being disagreable (?) RL misses a lot of times and before she was pregnant it happened in Grace under Pressure, the same goes for Ronon and at this time a priori she hasn't things like a baby (it doesn't mean she had nothing).
On the other hand JF has a wife, has children who live really far so i have to conclude that luckily he has a wife who stay at home and survey the children ?
This is the same for Rodney he has a new baby and I don't remember him missing so perhpas RL has decided to take a step back and be with her child but it's perhaps due to the fact that even when she hasn't things to do they didn't included her in story. And I doubt that Keller is in there as much because ther isn't Rachel, I don't remmeber Keller being in Midway, in Harmony and a lot of eps while Rachel wasn't here so they weren't so much bothered to replace Rachel but they wanted to put Keller as the new McKay.
I really don't think one second it's this besides she has the child with her on set and as I said Rodney and Ronon (I mean the actors have children and yet they are on the show).After all it'"s ther job and as everybody even with child you go to work so I really don't believe the authors so nice lol sorry. So in this case why Rodney had tie to appear 2 seconds it was easier for him than Rachel in the ep ?
Sorry this was just to say that I think once again the authors make errors but they are the same than in the past so i can't believe it's because of the baby the excuse is really too easy IMO. Did I make sense ?

The biggest problem is, the writer's don't know how to write a woman. She's either cliche warrior chick (Larrin) or high school geek with a crush (no need to name). So Teyla doesn't get to have lot of screen time. It's the same with Ronon; I think the writer's have written him into a corner, where anything other than what we've seen (Ronon the Runner) would be very OOC. We have to remember that Ronon had a wife/girlfriend who was close enough to be his wife, he had friends, he was a leader of a military group - he didn't get called 'Specialist Dex' for nothing. The writers seem to have forgotten that.

Also - and I'm not saying this to be bad - but in the case of DH and JM and JF... They're men. They're not the 'primary care giver' - the woman is. In this day and age, more and more men are staying at home while the women go out to work but it's still predominantly the woman who cares for the child.

I wasn't sure what to think of her at first, but I started liking her more and more. When she counted the 13 bodies wrong, and another one jumped out... the way she responded was very funny to me.
So, I hope we get to see her, and maybe the other two girls again some time in the coming eps.

RL might not be pregnant now but she does have a son to raise. And her husband has been away filming, so SHE had to look after the little one. I'm not surprised and I think if she hadn't had her child (I'm not saying she shouldn't have had, just commenting) there wouldn't be as much Keller because RL would still be able to commit to the hours she had before.

I agree. I just don't get the appeal of the John and Rodney show..I really dont.... to me it has in fact detracted from the characters on too many occasions and made them appear childish and immature.... I am not a McShep fan and never will be and don't really understand the appeal of John and Rodney.... as friends I find them fairly bearable in small doses... but because they have been the only pairing to get shoved down our throats for nearly 5 years I really have had my fill of them.

I don't find it nearly as natural a friendship as some do... I thought the scene in the Shrine with Rodney banging on Johns door was right out of fanfiction and should have stayed in fanfiction..... the writers are definitly only able to write for McShep and it doesnt seem to matter now what plot or what kind of story we get once we get some McShep bonding or almost hugging.. that's seems to be what a large majority of fans want on this board... anyone who wants more from the show has given up and moved on... I know dozens of fans who used to love the show and don't watch it anymore.... some still converse with me occasionally but most wont watch and are not bothered that the show has been cancelled because of the direction it continues to take.

I love genuine relaxed moments between the team like we got in season 3.. but when have we seen any of them of late.... any bonding scenes are between John and Rodney.... I really thought in Search and Rescue that things were going to change but nope we went right back to the John and Rodney show and the Shrine just proves the obsession the writers have for McKay and the McShep show and now Keller.... but where are Ronon and Teyla... As I said to Linda I didnt miss Teyla in Whispers because I would rather not see her in the ep at all rather than get a few pathetic lines and pretty much see her shoved in the background.... Teyla has lost any personality she had this season... she is safely tucked away now as mommy Teyla and no threat to anyone... they dont allow her to have a personality except being mommy.

I hope Prodical and the Queen give her something decent but already we have the forced little buddy scene with

You're probably right but the mom at house is a myth hoy I mean mother can find a solution for their children look at Amanda Tapping and Claudia they didn't stay behind so IMO this isn't the reason for Rachel I can't believe on the other hand I really believe that you're right it'sas always the Shep McKay show

Hi Blue happy to see you I agree with a lot of what you said and in fact I agree with all except for Teyla that I enjoy and IMO gain so much but the authors always let the focus on other lugar.
Personally I love McKay, I like Shep but I can't stand the McShep. Is it Gater who ask the friendship between Carson and any other on the serie (my poor head I don't remember) I said and I didn't want to say too much because I feared to create tension or problems but the Carson Rodney was a real and profound friendship IMO the Shep McKay is a bad joke I can't consider them friends, people alone and who stick together yes but not as friend as they try to make us believe. To be honnest I believe more in a friendship between Teyla and McKay than Shep and McKay.
Yeah you know what with the cancelation of SGA I wasn't as depressed as much as for SGA I was so disappointed yet I loved the show and it is one of my top five without hesitation and it's not SG1. In fact I was depressed other another serie who finish sometimes ago but I can't explain how my mind fonction it made me think of another serie where I know I'll never have a movie as they said but in which I never was disappointed.
On the other hand I wouldn't have been so disapponted if I dislike the show and really I will miss it but at the same time I willmiss an ideal that I had in my mind.
Finally what I find sad, I remember Seldear saying it once (I hope I said thing right and she will correct me if I'm wrong) but finally in SGA we're fan of our character before any other thing. I mean even in the Sheyla thread in fonction of being fan of Shep or Teyla we don't see the same things.
