As for Carson... I couldn't believe throughout the episode - as soon as it became obvious he's going to ditch the fishing bit - that they're going to do this to Rodney. It's going to create so much guilt for him - as seen in that scene with Ronon....
But in a way, I think there's a real opportunity for the character here - I hope they utilise it well.
It'd be so painful to see Rodney without his best friend...

Hey all!

I had a big fright last night when someone lobbed a brick through my living room window and it narrowly missed me. I'm okay but still a bit shaken.

Glad you're okay! People can be such pr*cks sometimes. Once had a newspaper posted though the door that someone had set a light. Thank god my sister was at home or we might not have had a home. No arm porn sorry, on the computer instead of my laptop so no pics broke my USB ports (yes all four, don't ask) so no internet on it.

Katie is too light weight, one major blow up and she will run for the hills *I can't wait* although she is better then Weir so if it had to be canon with anyone then I suppose a *never see her more then once a year character* is better then the alternative.

Also how real are McKay's feelings for her anyway, I mean he was *for McKay* hitting on that women in Allies, he was still drooling over Sam, he even gave the faux Sam his best seduction looks in The Game.

Also just the other week he was supposibly writing books for Weir! No this was a plot device and I seriously doubt we will see or even hear much of Katie, which suits me just fine.

and even though I thought Rodney was cute in that scene.. I did not like Katie.. She's just not right for him. Besides Rodney was only using her to get out of going fishing with Carson. It looked like then He felt guilty for using her so he had lunch with her for real. But I do feel so bad for Rodney feeling guilty about getting out of fishing with Carson.. I know he is playing the what if game in his head.

I have to disagree about Katie...

Rodney seemed genuine enough. In this, mean the fact he didn't seem to try and make himself look better - as a matter of fact, he pointed out he doesn't understand what she sees in him. That's not someone trying to hit on a woman, that is someone who's speaking honestly. yes, he was flirting with her, but it felt like genuine affection - I'm not saying he's going to get married t her the next episode and sghe'd remain his one love for the rest of time.... I'm saying he likes her.

and he is a guy so any women showing interest in him is a good thing in his mind, but it is a long way from like and occasional sexual partner to anything serious, and here I would hate for this Katie to be the one tptb see as being a "fit" for McKay. She IMHO is not strong enough for him, she would start crying the minute he insulted her (and meant to not just because he is socially inept) she may say there is no subtext with McKay but saying it and really living with that kind of guy are two different things.

If she is a fling something maybe later on to (in McKay's fevered mind) rub it in the face of Sam, then it might be fun but he will always be using her, either for sex, company or just convince.

Also given this is Stargate we really will rarely see her and so that makes it even more annoying as she will never be a developed character either, so all my doubts will just remain.

If Katie starts crying whenever Rodney insults her - and it's granted to eb often - isn't this what he needs in order to learn how tpo keep his mouth shut? Rodney is very dismissing of people, even when they're his best friends. He often annoys them - but because he's surrounded by such strong people all the time, how often does he have to live with it? In Trinity, because he crossed the line... when else? If he has to deal wtih someone who needs him to stop being an arse - or, rather, learn how to stop being an arse - it could change him. It's like what Katie told him - she was happy he was really trying to make an effort, really trying to get that relationship to work. That's quite a change from the Rodney McKay of season 1...

Couldn't agree more! I think that Rodney does indeed

like her, but that it doesn't mean that much to him, that it's nothing serious for him. I think he's flattered that she likes him, that he thinks she's pretty, and maybe he sees her as a nice distraction from stress and everyday life subconsciously. I guess he would like to have a relationship with her, but I doubt he'd consider her to be the woman to spend his life with.

In my opinion Katie is not the right woman for him. As you said, Willow, I think he needs someone stronger. And from a female fan's point of view I have to admit that I really don't like Katie. She's so incredibly girlish. She talks and behaves like an eight year old who has an idol she adores, and then she finally gets noticed by him and acts all shy and silly. I'm sure she's a darling and very nice, but in the end that would mean that she'd be too obedient and too kind to be Rodney's long-term partner, think she doesn't have enough assertiveness or charisma.

So I really hope TPTB won't make these two a couple. I for my part really don't want to see that.
