I know! I was thinking she still had a story arc to finish out because there was that scene of Torri-Liz (as opposed to FRAN-ibeth) commanding the replicator ship...and then *poof* no more Liz...I'm still sitting here going WTF about that scene anyway!

I don't have season 4 yet, but I know what happens basically in the rest of the show.

i am quite aware of what happens and am kind of okay with it, i got over the fact that John and Elizabeth were not going to be together, regardless of my feelings towards that area in the legacy novels. i m actually okay with John ending up with
Teyla, i told one of my friends and i quote 'you were right Sheppard ends up with Teyla and she did a little happy dance
later i asked her how happy she was about it, she said that it felt good.

as for Atlantis rising,i have been reading it and i'm quite happy to read it it actually brings a huge smile to my face when i'm reading. i hope John and Elizabeth reunite.

You might want to check out John/Teyla thread then. While pretty much all of us here enjoy John and Teyla friendship, and we all like Teyla, we're not interested in them as a romantic relationship. if we were, we wouldn't be on this thread.

As for legacy books, aside from writing style, as several other posters ahve pointed out, there are canon mistakes and what I would call not very flattering treatment of Teyla's character. I wrote "Box of Dreams", I dealt in-depth with Teyla, and I never ever, through five seasons of the show, had slightest feeling that teyla would go for a one night stand with someone, especially someone she knew for a long time (since she was a child). Athosians are a small and close knitted group, they put a lot of importance on interpersonal connections and friendships, and one night stand can mess that up. It doesn't have to, but it can. Also, considering the fact that teyla spent a big part of season 4 searching Kanaan, wishing to reunite with him. In season five it was pretty clearly shown that she was living with him, and that she felt content and happy about that. I don't understand the choice of authors who decided to degrade Kanaan to babysitter who didn't matter to teyla at all, especially after these facts which were on screen, aka canon.

Jo Graham wrote considerable amount of fanfiction before she started writing Legacy series. i have read her fics and I know what her treatment of Elizabeth was like. She portrayed her as cold, distanced and barely - friends with John. Considering that this was part of John/Teyla fanfiction (which is entirely fine to write), I think JG decided to reinterpret John and Elizaneth's interactions to suit her purposes in fanfiction she was writing. She is welcome to do so in fanfiction, because fanfiction is meant to consider what - ifs and take things in other direction of the canon. One would expect exactly the opposite from book series which was, as authors have implied, supposed to be continuation of the series. What series, though? I don't think it's a continuation of SGA we actually watched. Which is why many of us think that Legacy is simply fanfiction you have to pay for.

I very highly doubt there would be a single interaction between Elizabeth and John in legacy books, and I truly don't inted to find out. My fannish time is limited after all. After reading the first book, I decided that the rest would probably be a waste of time.

I stopped reading after the first one too, not soley because of the shipping which I really don't think should be part of canon in Stargate. It hurts too many of the fans who were backing other ships. (Sparky, McShep, Teyla/Ronon, etc.) Or those who just don't like shipping in SG. Just needless IMO. The other things that I was unhappy about were the disruption of the team element and the wacky Wraith names. Those just did me in. Like you stated, OK for fanfic, not for a sanctioned continuation of the series. :O
