    What about Stargate series?
    - Plot holes
    - No fluditiy between episodes
    - Storyline blows

Even the good storylines like "The Travellers" could have been done much better.

What about Adrift and Lifeline? Good ops episodes, but could have used more action and plot.

It seems to be the same stuff over and over again.

    1) Bad problem
    2) We're screwed
    3) Op mission, or fight
    4) Get objective completed
    5) Friend or someone gets left behind, or something screws up a bit
    6) The end, problem solved.

I love Stargate. I watched Stargate since Season 2 of SG1, and Season 1 of SGA.

    But this is just putrid.

If I had the power, I would definitely give up both stargate series (if SG1 was still airing) for Battlestar Galactica.

I am just vexxed that SGA continues to go, and BSG is gone by 2009.
Just how long did you think BSG was going to continue anyway? Just how long do you think they could have kept up the whole "reach Earth" plotline? On top of that, the show is really narrow in it's focus. After a while, if there's no individuality or differentiality, the show would have become dull anyway. And, if you are in fact upset because BSG is ending, take it up with their tptb. SGA has it's issues, but it has room to improve (not that tptb care, mind you). If you don't like SGA, don't watch it. But I doubt SGA and SG-1 have anything to do with BSG's end.

I love BSG... but it really kind of needs to end sooner than later... the last season is a prime example of stretching out an already existing storyline too far... they need to find earth... or what happened to earth. if they stretched it out over 10 years it would just turn to garbage.

SG shows explore the entire universe, there's plenty of small and larger arc stories to tell there.

Screw BSG! It had its chance and now its dead, plus Staragate atlantis is way better! Also you can't end Atlantis as its finally getting into its own! the last 6 episodes of Atlantis have been excellent and you want to cancel it for some show about "Cyberman rip-off robots attacking horny huamns in space!"
I will take a "Flying ancient city of the mythological atlantis, figthing life sucking instecoid aliens and self replicating robots in another galaxiy" any day over BSG.

If you rather watch BSG then go to a BSG forum.
I say it should instead be: keep BSG cancelled and give all its money for another series to Atlantis OR Keep BSG cancelled and bring back Firefly!

Yes, that's exactly why they're doing it...

Atlantis is getting plenty of viewers anyway this year.

Personally, I found 'Adrift' to be pretty boring for a season opener as compared to 'Small Victories', and as a whole, I keep getting this feeling that they seem to be rehashing quite a few plotlines from SG-1 every so often. Frankly, the last episode that I genuinely enjoyed was 'Common Ground', and I absolutely hated what they did with Michael's character.

That being said, I still enjoy SGA as a whole, just not as much as SG-1, but it's definitely better than a majority of sci-fi shows. Oh yeah, and personally, I loved S10 of SG-1 and would go so far as to say that it's easily one of my fave seasons, especially with episodes like 'Flesh and Blood', 'The Pegasus Project', 'Insiders', 'The Quest' (IMO a much better mid-season arc as compared to SGA's 'The Return'), 'Line in the Sand', 'The Shroud', 'Dominion' and of course, 'Undending'. Which is way more episodes that I enjoyed as compared to S3 of SGA (off the top of my head, I only liked 'Sateda', 'Progeny', 'The Real World' and 'Common Ground').

I too am fairly certain that Skiffy will cancel SGA after S5, since I have a nagging suspicion that the only reason they even renewed it for an extra season so early on was just so that it could reach the magical 100th episode mark (similar to what happened with SG-1), which I suspect will be the final episode of SGA since it's the 5th season finale. I'll definitely be sad to see it go if that's the case, although even TPTB themselves have stated on at least one occasion that they've always believed that SGA would never last as long as SG-1.

And as for BSG, I definitely enjoyed the first two seasons, although I didn't really like the episodic approach that they used throughout much of the third season. That being said, I too enjoyed the first 2 seasons slightly more than all of SGA thus far, although SG-1's still better in my book. BSG
s S3 finale was most definitely excellent in my book however, and I really can't wait to see how it'll all be resolved in the fourth and final season. And I do understand the creators' decision to end it, as they stated that the series was always meant to have a clear cut beginning, middle and end (kinda like with 'Lost'), and I respect them for it as it shows they aren't trying to milk the cash cow for all it's worth and drag the series on without providing any real answers or payoff. That being said, I too don't believe that there's a need to cancel one series just to allow the other to continue, since MGM's the one which produces SGA whereas Skiffy finances BSG, and they're both great shows in my book.

Just my 2 cents on the matter, bear in mind that everyone's opinions aren't necessarily the same.

Thank you. Agree with you on all points.

I know. Stargate Universe sounds crappy.

Is Stargate Universe going to be something based on the MW? I think they should incorpoate something so that they are able to access other gates from different galaxies (similar to how the Asgard was able to access other galaxies quite easily).

Do you guys remember when travelling from "god knows where" back to Earth when the prometheus didn't have adequate hyperdrives, and the asgard took us back instantly?

                OR

Do you guys remember when Thor would be able to access other gates instantly?

                Maybe somethign like that.

And besides, the Ori galaxy is something that has yet been explored!

Lots of interaction between the protagonist and antagonist, action and drama. BUT, the show started going down hill really fast after that. It became an overly angsty emo softcore porn soap opera in space, with alcoholics. (Try saying that 5 times fast.) Seriously, it became a story about the people and no longer a story about the journey. And what was with all the three way bed hopping? You had Kara-Lee-Anders, then you had Sharon-Tyrol-Helo, then there was Baltar-Six-D'Anna. And I forgot Dualla being with Lee as well. So that one was a a 4 way hop. Then, you always had an overload of drinking and whining and boo-hoo me every single episode. It was downright depressing to watch that show. You had Looooooong stretches of monotonous dialogue that seemed to never end.

And since McSwift wants to over simplify things, let's just break BSG down to what it is.

                  1.) Wake up
                  2.) drink some alcohol
3.) shower, but make sure to primp so that you look like you haven't showered in weeks.
                  4.) have argument with someone
                  5.) sleep with them
                  6.) take another alcoholic drink
7.) fight a human looking robot or talk about your problems for half an hour
8.) ignore anyone who is obviously gone nuts
                  9.) sleep with someone else
                  10.) feel guilty
                  11.) drink some more alcohol
                  12.) have a temper tantrum
13.) argue with someone about said temper tantrum
14.) go flying in space when there is no way you should be operating heavy equipment, shoot a few bad guys
15.) celebrate by getting drunk and sleeping with someone.
                  16.) have another mental breakdown
                  17.) repeat steps 4 thru 16
                  18.) end of episode

That just about covers any episode from season 2 and 3. Geee, I just want to watch that week after week. [/sarcasm] I liked season 1 and the mini series, but after that, things went south. It just became so agonizing to watch that show. A little drama and angst is ok, but BSG took it too far. So, I would still take ANY SG over BSG anyday.

One, if you hate the show so much, why watch it, and why are you HERE in an SG forum? Are you just letting out YOUR angst on us, or are you just trying to bait people into an argument? Fact is, BSG is going away, SGA got a 5th season, AND another SG series is in the works. The BSG spin off "Caprica" has been shelved, and may not ever happen now. Deal with it. BSG wasn't really getting any better ratings than the SG shows were the last season all three were on. Considering the series started in the 3 rating range, and dropped to the 1 range, that is REALLY bad. Yes, I know ratings overall are down for all TV shows. But BSG's ratings are down more so. So, if season 3 is indicative of the future of BSG, then I say cancel it now and save us the torture. And McSwift, if you are soooo distraught about BSG's end, then may I suggest you watch something like General Hospital or Days of Our Lives since they share a common angsty emo melodramatic bed hopping format, IF you can live without the special effects and robotic aliens that is.
Its obvious that I did not say I hate it. I'm just mad that they made the entire series really stupid. If I hated SGA, I wouldn't have bought the past 3 seasons on DVD, even though it cost me an arm and a leg.

                  Not to mention S7 / S8 of SG1.

$36.99 for each season is an arm and a leg? That's about what I pay per week for coffee alone. (Though I will admitt, it's not normal coffee, it's capuccino)

Seriously though, you come onto an SG forum, where there are specific BSG sections, and ANTI SGA threads, where you can complain to your hearts content, but you choose to post it right in front of everyone to see in the general section? Come on. You know that is just asking for trouble.

You're entitled to your opinion, but put it in the right place next time. But what I do find confusing is, I think you stated that you found SGA season 3 disappointing, yet you still bought the DVD's. Why would you buy something that you were unhappy with before you bought it? Am I missing something?

And you don't have to say you hate something, sometimes what you do say can leave the strong impression that you do.

I hated the new "Battlestar Galactica" from the start because I'm old enough to remember the original one and this new version is a dark cartoon of a classic. However...many friends here love that show for some reason, so I won't cry out for the termination of BSG.

I used to love "Stargate Atlantis" from the start, but I hate Season 4 so far because of the cast changes, so I don't really care if TPTB axe it because without Weir, Beckett and Caldwell, ( where is he, anyway ??? ) I just don't care anymore.

I'm looking forward to "Stargate Universe" and the SG-1 movies. In the meantime, there's plenty of "House", "Law & Order SVU", "Heroes" and "Mythbusters" to justify my cable bill.

Forget BSG and SGA; bring back "Firefly" with the original cast and I'll live happily ever after.

To be quite frank: I believe that Battlestar Galactica is a crappy soap opera in space with characters who have very little redeemable qualities and little realism. The Stargate series even on it's worst days is better then Battlestar Galactica on it's best, which relies too heavily on CGI.

However, I wouldn't want to cancel a series that alot of people like just to make room for my own series, kind of selfish don't ya think?
