This isn't the wisest way to promote BSG, y'know. I agree that Battlestar Galactica is quite possibly the best show on television, rivalling only now with Doctor Who.

Atlantis has its flaws, lots of lots of flaws, but its been renewed for season 5 so it has another chance to redeem itself. BSG is drawing to a close so that 1) It doesn't drag on and 2) So that it ends on a high.

RDM decided to bring his epic story to a close, so thats what they're doing. I'm happy BSG hasn't been cancelled but sad that after 2009, its over. But look at it this way - RDM is going to move onto other things, right?

Expect more dark, gritty and utterly spectacular shows for the future.

What is so good about SGA lately? Nothing has progressed. Don't get me wrong. I said I have been a devoted fan. I have bought all of S7, S8 of SG1 & S1, S2, S3 of Atlantis. This is your opinion. I really like season 4 of SGA. I don't watch BSG because it really bothers me. If you don't like SGA you are free to stop watching it. We all have the right to chose what we want to like but like someone said earlier in the post it is selfish to want another show to be cancelled just because you don't like it.
I have never called for the cancellation of BSG just because I don't like it so why should others want SGA cancelled because they don't like it. Just watch what you like and turn off the other shows. It is so simple.

I love SGA! I got cable just to see it.

How can there ever be too much of that?!? Oh yeah, on a scifi show that's how. *rolleyes* I used to like BSG, USED TO. Season 1 was good. Lots of interaction between the protagonist and antagonist, action and drama. BUT, the show started going down hill really fast after that. It became an overly angsty emo softcore porn soap opera in space, with alcoholics. (Try saying that 5 times fast.) Seriously, it became a story about the people and no longer a story about the journey. And what was with all the three way bed hopping? You had Kara-Lee-Anders, then you had Sharon-Tyrol-Helo, then there was Baltar-Six-D'Anna. And I forgot Dualla being with Lee as well. So that one was a a 4 way hop. Then, you always had an overload of drinking and whining and boo-hoo me every single episode. It was downright depressing to watch that show. You had Looooooong stretches of monotonous dialogue that seemed to never end.

And since McSwift wants to over simplify things, let's just break BSG down to what it is.

1.) Wake up
2.) drink some alcohol
3.) shower, but make sure to primp so that you look like you haven't showered in weeks.
4.) have argument with someone
5.) sleep with them
6.) take another alcoholic drink
7.) fight a human looking robot or talk about your problems for half an hour
8.) ignore anyone who is obviously gone nuts
9.) sleep with someone else
10.) feel guilty
11.) drink some more alcohol
12.) have a temper tantrum
13.) argue with someone about said temper tantrum
14.) go flying in space when there is no way you should be operating heavy equipment, shoot a few bad guys
15.) celebrate by getting drunk and sleeping with someone.
16.) have another mental breakdown
17.) repeat steps 4 thru 16
18.) end of episode

That just about covers any episode from season 2 and 3. Geee, I just want to watch that week after week. [/sarcasm] I liked season 1 and the mini series, but after that, things went south. It just became so agonizing to watch that show. A little drama and angst is ok, but BSG took it too far. So, I would still take ANY SG over BSG anyday.

Season 4 is not being shown until April, because SGA is zapping money from the production of BSG. Remember now, BSG costs more money to produce than SGA. One, if you hate the show so much, why watch it, and why are you HERE in an SG forum? Are you just letting out YOUR angst on us, or are you just trying to bait people into an argument? Fact is, BSG is going away, SGA got a 5th season, AND another SG series is in the works. The BSG spin off "Caprica" has been shelved, and may not ever happen now. Deal with it. BSG wasn't really getting any better ratings than the SG shows were the last season all three were on. Considering the series started in the 3 rating range, and dropped to the 1 range, that is REALLY bad. Yes, I know ratings overall are down for all TV shows. But BSG's ratings are down more so. So, if season 3 is indicative of the future of BSG, then I say cancel it now and save us the torture. And McSwift, if you are soooo distraught about BSG's end, then may I suggest you watch something like General Hospital or Days of Our Lives since they share a common angsty emo melodramatic bed hopping format, IF you can live without the special effects and robotic aliens that is.

While BSG is a good show, I stopped watching it a while ago because it was getting kinda wierd for me. Organic Robots giving birth to babies? Come on, that has got to be the wierdest thing I have ever heard and seen. If you want to bash SGA, go to a BSG thread, we devoted Stargate fans dont want to hear it, thats one of the reasons that BSG has its own section. I mean, to come here and bash SGA like that, totally unacceptable to us devoted Stargate fans. So just get over it already, go complain about it on an BSG thread.

I'm sure that a lot of you will recognise that video as it appeared on the great internets a few months ago, created by a fan of SGA who loves the show and decided to spend his money making a music video dedicated to Atlantis and all of its inhabitance.

Fortunately for him, Sky One has began to use this rap to promote season 4. I kid you not, I just saw an advert on Sky One promoting the show's newest season with the 'Stargate Atlantis - Travellin' to other planets!' song playing in the background as well as the fan from the video dancing in his own clips.

Anyone else think that this new advertising tactic is going to work? I'm curious to see what new fans will rise up out of the mists...Its different, after all.

Tip of the day: when you can't promote the show on its own merits, turn to tepid fanfiction to lure more people in!

I think BSG is one of the best television shows ever made. Period. And it's the best show currently airing on television by a mile. So you don't like to sex, swearing, and violence on your shows? That's why there are a variety of things to watch, and everyone will have their own opinion on what the best show is! That's just mine.

I LOVE Atlantis, and I wouldn't be a Stargate fan if it weren't for BSG. But what I don't understand, is why does there have to be a war between the two shows? Fer cryin' out loud it's ridiculous! Can't we enjoy either one or both without resulting to this pathetic squabble over "your show has to be cancelled so I can have mine" or "your show should be cancelled cause I think it sucks." There was a time when I loved both shows. SGA and BSG. Since BSGs Season 2 finale and the revelation on what character (some of them I liked before they screwed them up) is a cylon or not made me turn away from that show. I would never call for a cancelation because there are still fans out there who were able to overlook those mistakes and love their show. I regret that I wasn't that strong. Everytime I try to watch BSG now I get a sick feeling in my stomach. SGA on the other hand had now three mindnumbing horribly awfull episodes in a row. If this continues I will quit the show too but they still could redeem themselves. BSG never redeemed itself in my opinion. It continued its self desctruction.

They can change it to whatever they want, as long as it gets picked up by Sci-fi and it's a good series.

Stargate rocks plain and simple... Bsg is good too, so whats with this whole one against the other... i mean theres hardly any descent sci fi shows and even less movies... why cant we just appreciate them both for what they are, i tell you id rather watch a sci fi than home and away or neighbours any day... so lets stop with the one or the other thing... the only connection those two shows have is that they are shown on sci fi channel and from what ive heard BSG has a life expectancy of 4 years (atleast according to the people in charge... same with lost and loads of others. n how will you feel when you dont even get atlantis then either... upset, distraught, death by heartache... btw on an unrelated issue... is californication gonna last more than one season (asking all americans)
