oh, why.... galactica isnt sexed up just because we occasionally see people about to or having had sex, (note: you never actually see anything!)that doesnt make it sexed up its just showing you that these characters are real people that do everything normal people do.
shouldnt the amount of alcohol consumption (which is gargantuan) be more of a concern? and two main characters are alcoholics as well! i find that a bit more troubling.
no, galactica has its problems but that aint one of them, any accusations of misogyny equally dont stand up for long if you watch the whole show which has some of the strongest female characters ever written definitely in a sci fi series and in major roles making important decisions, not a teyla in the bunch!
the way the real number six was treated was more to do with the complete moral collapse of admiral cain and to show just how far she and her crew had fallen. also Baltar gets tortured to within an inch of his life by a female cylon is series three so dont worry, degredation and shame are equally dished out between the sexes if thats what your worried about.

IMO Atlantis isnt in the same league as BSG but that doesnt stop me watching and enjoying both shows, Atlantis could do with some better plots, (and story arcs for that matter)the problem is its a really good concept thats being squandered a bit, all it needs is a creative shot in the arm but to say it needs cancelling is a bit much, the thing im finding with Atlantis at the moment is that unfortunately its boring me, BSG offers something i havent seen before in a sci fi show and Atlantis is just wheeling out the same old sci fi tropes that we've seen dozens of times before, but i personally likes my sci fi to be more down to earth (the irony isnt lost on me )
i feel at the moment that Atlantis could be great but BSG actually is.
and i love stargate dont get me wrong sg1 was brilliant almost all the way through and it vexes me slightly that Atlantis cant capture what sg1 did and it saddens me to see it just pootling along with what appears to be no real aim.
    To the Mandatorium!!!!!

I watched all of Season 1, 2, 3 of BSG, and find myself enjoying every episode. Not one episode made me lose attention from the episode. Plot lines are fluid and theres no plot holes in the storylines.

If I had the power, I would definitely give up both stargate series (if SG1 was still airing) for Battlestar Galactica.

I am just vexxed that SGA continues to go, and BSG is gone by 2009.
Ha. If I had the power I would definitely give up BSG for Stargate(Either one). What bothers me is that they manage to keep BSG but cancel SG-1. BSG went downhill long before it reached the 4th Season.

Don't get me wrong, I like BSG; but the third season was just terrible, and the second one wasn't too great either. I have season 1 & 2 or BSG, but I can't bring myself to sit through any of the episodes. They just bore me to death. The only thing I can actually watch more than twice is the miniseries that started it (it was bloody brilliant).

I find that S4 of SGA is great. S3 of BSG was just unbearable(I'll admit the first 4 episodes of it were good, but after that it basically died). In addition, I liked the last seasons of SG-1. Here's a better idea:

      Cancel BSG - Keep SGA

Seriously people, why must ANY series you don't like be cancelled? I've grown out of that phase months ago, and I can only see now how selfish I was. People should be allowed to enjoy their series even if you don't.
Only months ago? Well, I can see a lot of shows that I would love to see cancelled, but instead, I just don't watch 'em. Not being a Nielsen person, my vote doesn't count, alas, although when I get those internet surveys, I can voice my opinion then

And they were just as bad IMO. To talk about a shows cancellation in a positive light on a forum dedicated to that show isn't very nice.

                Cancel SGA - Keep BSG
                So say we all!

Seriously though BSG is ending because the story they wanted to tell will be finished by the end of season 4. I can respect that as opposed to them just plowing onward regardless the way SG-1 did for several years after it should really have wrapped up.

A BSG spinoff is entirely likely though. If you've watched the recent webisodes a 1st Cylon war era spinoff seems like a no brainer and would indeed kick some incredible ass. They were already talking about doing something like this with "Caprica". If they can just refine that idea to be less well.... boring than it initially sounded by having it take place around the first cylon war we'll be set for another 4-5 years or so of quality sci-fi. 7-10 with sci-fi's scheduling.

I don't cry over things that are said online.

                  1) I don't know what alien planet you are from, but SGA S5 is not out yet. AND BSG S4 has not aired either. You don't even have evidence to back up your point.

                  2) People said that S4 of SGA would be "a reset" and show "darker themes". I have yet to see anything "dark". Its pointless dialog. I can't believe I wasted my friday night watching SGA, and besides. The last two episodes blow.

                  3) What is so good about SGA lately? Nothing has progressed. Don't get me wrong. I said I have been a devoted fan. I have bought all of S7, S8 of SG1 & S1, S2, S3 of Atlantis. But nothing has improved. *ooohh, wraith is losing against replicator, wraith is losing, oohhh, space junk of replicator ships, wraith has more advantage.*

[mod snip] I have to say.

If the midseason finalie does not improve, i'm not watching SGA again.

Don't see why Atlantis would need to be canned to accomodate BSG. Especially since BSG was Sci-Fi's own baby. Meaning it was them who made all the money out of it. They make far more with BSG on the air, than they would with Atlantis. The fact that it's going out means that there is obviously something more behind the scenes. Maybe the writers or whatever just feel as if they can't do anything new with it any longer or whatever.

Atlantis had potential. It's probably not gonna get a S6. So if you wanted to do anything sensible, wouldn't it be smarter to start a petition to get MGM to give the Stargate franchise to a new studio away from 'Bridge Studios'. That means new writers, directors, producers etc! As well as Atlantis continuing to stay on the air.

Thats a good point too. I didn't realize the writers were from another studio.

How come we don't have any more GOOD episodes with GOOD plots and CG?
                      - The Storm / The Eye
                      - Runner
                      - Sateda
                      - Common Ground
                      - Sunday
                      - Vengence

These are definitely my MOST favorite episodes with quite a good feel.

But theres many of CRAP episodes:
                      - Irresponsible
                      - Irressitable
                      - Tabula Rasa
                      - The Tower
                      - Inferno

Only Season 1 of SGA was good, for many many reasons, notably related to production planning and what they had in mind - or didn't in fact.

                          How about Sci-fi keeps both?

All Sci-fi needs to do is order 6 mor episodes and make season 4 and 5 only 13 episodes. They weren't even smart enough to do that. Now it's too late.

                            - Storyline blows

Even the good storylines like "The Travellers" could have been done much better.

What about Adrift and Lifeline? Good ops episodes, but could have used more action and plot.

It seems to be the same stuff over and over again.

                            1) Bad problem

                            3) Op mission, or fight
                            4) Get objective completed
                            5) Friend or someone gets left behind, or something screws up a bit
                            6) The end, problem solved.

I love Stargate. I watched Stargate since Season 2 of SG1, and Season 1 of SGA.

                            But this is just putrid.

Even if there are a few issues to work out, it is in no way as bad as you make it out to be. And it is DEFINITELY not worse than season 10.

Oh come on. SG1 Season 10 was fairly decent.

Season 9 was the season that blew.

Okay, okay. To be honest, I don't think either were great. They weren't as bad as a lot of the other scifi trash out there, but they weren't quite up to what I would expect Stargate standards to be. For me, it had a lot to do with Jack leaving.
