oh, why.... galactica isnt sexed up just because we occasionally see people about to or having had sex, (note: you never actually see anything!)that doesnt make it sexed up its just showing you that these characters are real people that do everything normal people do.
shouldnt the amount of alcohol consumption (which is gargantuan) be more of a concern? and two main characters are alcoholics as well! i find that a bit more troubling.
no, galactica has its problems but that aint one of them, any accusations of misogyny equally dont stand up for long if you watch the whole show which has some of the strongest female characters ever written definitely in a sci fi series and in major roles making important decisions, not a teyla in the bunch!
the way the real number six was treated was more to do with the complete moral collapse of admiral cain and to show just how far she and her crew had fallen. also Baltar gets tortured to within an inch of his life by a female cylon is series three so dont worry, degredation and shame are equally dished out between the sexes if thats what your worried about.
IMO Atlantis isnt in the same league as BSG but that doesnt stop me watching and enjoying both shows, Atlantis could do with some better plots, (and story arcs for that matter)the problem is its a really good concept thats being squandered a bit, all it needs is a creative shot in the arm but to say it needs cancelling is a bit much, the thing im finding with Atlantis at the moment is that unfortunately its boring me, BSG offers something i havent seen before in a sci fi show and Atlantis is just wheeling out the same old sci fi tropes that we've seen dozens of times before, but i personally likes my sci fi to be more down to earth (the irony isnt lost on me )
i feel at the moment that Atlantis could be great but BSG actually is.
and i love stargate dont get me wrong sg1 was brilliant almost all the way through and it vexes me slightly that Atlantis cant capture what sg1 did and it saddens me to see it just pootling along with what appears to be no real aim.
