Details Of 'Blood & Chrome' Characters Revealed

            http://airlockalpha.com/node/8148/de...-revealed.html

Fans are still rooting for Nico Cortez to reprise his role as a young William Adama in the upcoming "Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome" pilot. No one knows if he'll get the role, as that decision is up to Syfy, but word is out now on exactly what kind of characters executive producer David Eick is looking for.

Adama is planned as a Tom Cruise-like character -- not jumping on Oprah's couch Tom Cruise, but more the "Top Gun" Tom Cruise -- who is a bit battle weary in Year 10 of the first Cylon war, according to TV Guide. Adama -- who would go on to command the Battlestar Galactica in "Battlestar Galactica" right now is just a rookie pilot, similar to Cortez's version of Adama in the BSG telemovie "Razor."

The Adama character really needs to explanation, no matter what the timeline is. What is interesting are the other characters that reporter William Keck revealed.

Who wants to start taking bets now on how long this show will last? I give it 1 maybe 2 seasons before SyFy decides to wash there hands of it. Thats not to say the writing or story wont be good, Caprica was decent. But its clear that SyFy is no longer the home for Science fiction.

              Assuming it becomes a show.

i really hate to say this... but what are the odds that if this is made into a show, what are the odds it might be cancelled after its first season or second?

It would all depend on ratings. If the geniuses at SyFy decide to put the show on tuesdays during primetime in the fall like they did with Caprica and SGU, it likely wont survive to long.

I really hope this show will be able to succeed where Caprica could not.

I'm not really worried about "Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome."

David Weddle, Bradley Thompson, Michael Taylor and David Eick are four people I respect tremendously, especially when it comes to good Battlestar Galactica. Sure, of that group, only Eick was involved with "Caprica" (and how much he was involved is anyone's guess), but I had no issue with that show, except with how Syfy pulled the plug.

But "Caprica" has cast a shadow on this new proposed series that will take place between it and "Battlestar Galactica." How will Syfy save face with a fanbase that seems all but alienated now that deep-thinking shows like "Caprica" and "Stargate: Universe" have been scheduled for premature dirt naps?

The first step was, of course, making sure that the new BSG series had names fans were familiar with, and names they could trust. David Weddle and Bradley Thompson -- who have been very friendly and upfront with Airlock Alpha readers in the past -- have a long history with fandom. They've been involved with some great shows including "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine," the 2000s revival of "The Twilight Zone," and, of course, "Battlestar Galactica."

This show will definitely have to prove itself. I will try not to invest myself too much in it if it is good, but that is easier said than done.

One downside of having William Adama is that you know he's going to be okay eventually. Also less serialized - boo. That's what I loved about BSG.

Other than that, looking forward to this.

for me it won't hurt the story knowing that he's going to be ok

Same goes for me. I would love to see what he went through in his early years.
