i posted earlier where Pelosi and pals changed the house rules (re instituted the Gephardt rule) which will prevent Cortez or anyone from even mentioning these ideas on the floor, let alone push it as a bill, without having a sound and vetted funding regime in place for any such 'new deals' of any type

if Cortez or any of the other progressives just elected don't get the point that they have been shut out by their own party, then they are quite thick

The Dems screwed the pooch in 2016, and they're gonna pay for that screw-up for a generation at least with judicial appointments. They let this kindergartner out of her playpen, they might screw up again in 2020 or 2022. I would want her silenced also.

i think that very fear the dems have of losing voters to the GOP (the F-ing political party yo-yo!!!) by looking too radical is the very reason why Pelosi and her cronies made the rules they did to stifle the progressives before they got started

it goes hand in glove with the other rule they changed. the one that makes it harder to make a challenge to the speaker's leadership

first Pelosi shut them down (the progressives) on their agenda then she shut them down when they get frustrated with her over that and then maybe try to elect her from her leadership role

Pelosi may be just another professional democratic hack, but she is good at it (keeping her power) if she is good at nothing else

last thought on this = the dems always say how the GOP will nearly stop at nothing to win and how timid dems are in the elections and in governance. but they sure as hell are quite brutal on their own rank and file aren't they?

Yes, I don't think we need gestapo, but I would like the idea of deportation upon detection.

If you want to migrate here, do so legally, by the established processes. If caught in the country otherwise, why shouldn't they be tossed out?

Like any country or entity, this nation has a "national self image" for lack of a better term.

A significant part of that is standing up and taking care of one's self. And expecting others to do the same.

At it's heart, and what Ocasio-Cortez wants to do is use the power of govt. to take from those that have earned their way in the world and give it to those who have not. It's in the same vein as the protests about 10 years ago, where you had a recession, and a whole lot of unemployed recent college graduates with the attending debt demanding that some one pay their student loans for them. In essence, a 4 year old having a tantrum because it's mother won't buy him the trinket in the checkout line toy rack.

That's going to bother a lot of middle of the road voters as well as most on the right. If they don't shut her up, she might kill them in 2020
