The woman permitted the breeze to stroke her white cheeks as she drifted like a ghost against the shadows of a secreted allyway. Her feet carried her along the cobbles and to the next street, where the wind blew her hood back up as she stopped by the roadside then watched a dozen or so people scurry past towards the old bar, now an old inferno . . .
Her mind was like a sky of lost bats trying to find their cavern before the night came, but the night had already spilled over the sun and she was still no closer to discovering the truth of what had happened to her all of those years ago. Four years of searching and finally a clue, 'Midna' . . .
She thought it ironic how she had just sent a barman to his death. The captain, that old Gallifreyan captain, he was a barman too... She clearly recalled, he was everything he needed to be.
She suddenly stopped and fell against the brick wall, hitting her head on it as something inside made her almost lose her balance. She stopped breathing and focused as a great sweltering flowed down her veins . . . Something which made her eyes become ember for a second . . . Something supernatural . . . Something which made her blood throb with a silent pain.
It happened often to her, and she knew it would pass. It always passed. Ever since she had awoken four years ago, ever since she discovered herself abandoned by those she loved and left frozen in the coldest sector of the galaxy. As she remembered the rage which had served her mission so well, the pain evaporated away . . .
She blew out the air at last and straightened herself, before she tugged on her hood to perfectly shadow her face and turn right out of the alley and down towards the rusty docking platforms...
