Iris on the Ori supergate

but the problem with the putting a shield or an asteroid as an iris or a means to burry the gate is that the ori ships already in our galaxy would return to the gate and just shot the crap out of what we used to block incoming travelers. The asteroid would be torn apart and the shield depleted.

you can shoot through it but the thing inside gate

so anyone on the incoming gate would not get through but you can still fire at the shield as long as your on the other side. just like the tokra shield device.

Or as the Ori seemed the shut the Supergate down after use just shoot at it from the other side of the gate until it depletes.

u kiddin me? these things are 11 km long! they have guns the size of the dedalus! plus all that funky organic armour, thousands of darts, they would destroy ori raiders with sherr numbers alone. ans the hives have a lot more guns than an ori battlecruiser.

The Ori raiders wouldn't even have to be deployed, the Hive would be long gone before it's darts even had the chance to be dispatched. The Ori beam would shred the Hive to bits in under a minute, it can be fired shot after shot and each shot is far more devasting than the hive fire. The Ori also have their secondary fire which is alot faster than wraith fire and takes out ha'taks in 2 seconds flat. Now we have the Ori shields which are totally unaffected by simple bombardment which is the Wraiths primary strategy in a fight. The Ori ships in 'Camelot' were bombarded by the milkyway fleet and it didn't so much as rock the ship. A single hive is no match for a single Ori ship, Ori ships are atleast on Par with ancient ships, probably better and the ancient ships had no problem taking on hives one on one.

BTW hives don't have guns the size of the daedalus, they have energy shots the size of the daedalus but the actual guns are much smaller, if they were 304 size they'd be very visible on the hull, which they're not.

Yeah sorry, I just find it funny when people think a single hive could take out a single Ori ship when it's obvious the Ori ships are superior.

Yeah I agree I think an ori ship would be equivalent to the satellite weapon that tore through a hive in seconds. However if we could get an extra zpm, set up an atlantis type shield around the entire hive, and then begin the pwning begin.

And the likelyhood of that happening is? Lol. It would never happen basically because Earth simply couldn't create a shield matching the Atlantis one. Basically you stick an Atlantis type shield on any type of ship and you've got the most powerful ship in the Galaxy since it can't be destroyed (unless it sits there doing nothing for days), it doesn't apply to just hives.

It's really hard to tell but they're roughly 6 times longer than ha'taks and 304's So about 3 km long. That said Hives are supposed to be 11 km long yet in 'No Mans Land' only looked about 10 times longer than a 304 putting the hive at around 5km (with a basis of the 304's being 500m long). So really there's no way to tell when scaling is constantly being changed to suit the purpose of the episode.
