More Sci-Fi Channel monster mayhem arrives on June 30th with Sea Beast, the
newest aquatic monster mash from Paul Ziller (Snakehead Terror, Loch Ness
Terror) being released as the latest in Genius Product's "Maneater" series.
Having just recently reviewed the film, I can tell you this is another case
of a nifty monster trapped in a woefully formulaic creature feature. A
fishing village is terrorized by a gill-man, or would that be a gill-woman given
its attack is aided by its little offspring? "Mr. Syfy" Corin Nemec is the
down-on-his-luck fisherman up for the challenge of battling a very agile
mutant angler fishman capable of Predator-like stealth, reeling in victims with
a
super long tongue and incapacitating them with the venomous slime it spits.

WOMEN IN SCI-FI

Well, since learning that Ugo.com last year posted their “50 sexiest women in SF”, I’ve been thinking about this. Now, this again opens an old debate—but every year, there’s a new name to add to the list, so when I spotted this, I thought why not? Well, since I’m a woman, my criteria is bound to be different, so who do I think should be on this list? I’ll tell you.

7. Mili Avital (Stargate--Shauri): She’s the first person to figure out what Daniel and crew are after in her land; smarter than the learned men who can’t seem to make more sense of the strangers than that they must be gods; and seems to me, she’s one of the major catalysts or at least supporters of the rebellion, against their odd overlord. For all that, yep, Shauri made my list.

19. Christina Cox (Vicki Nelson, Blood Ties)—I admit it, I liked this rough adaptation of Tanya Huff’s Blood Ties and I really wanted to see what became of Vicki and Henry. Of course it couldn’t have lasted—if you remember the books you know why. Oh, well, nonetheless I liked it a lot. Hopefully the show will be back on the air soon (hint hint to Lifetime).

Stargate vets Anderson and Shanks to appear in Universe

SyFy's Stargate Universe will kick off with help from two familiar faces this fall. Richard Dean Anderson and Michael Shanks will reprise their Stargate: SG-1 roles in the series premiere of Universe, which is billed as a darker, character driven sci-fi show.

Shanks' appearance will be a one-time cameo, according to consulting producer Joseph Mallozzi. Anderson, however, will make multiple guest appearances in Universe in addition to showing up in the two-hour premiere. The actor said he would make "slim appearances" in the first "half dozen" episodes or so ...
