SG5 Missions Thread

'Really, Really glad I left the ribbon behind.' Jen thought as she came through behind the lieutenant. The guards look ready to shoot and Jen held her hands away from her gun. "We're from the Tau'ri. I am Captain Jen Stevens and this is Lieutenant Kateira MacDoreign." Jen stepped back. The light from the wormhole blinked out.

Ka'te stepped through the gateand was greeted with the sight of two staff weapons pointed in her general direction. She held her empty hands up and then waved towards the the Romans.

"Sophrus Marcipor, and Gaius Justinius. The Council has asked to see them."

The Jaffa powered down the staffs and held them upright.

"The Council is expecting you, MacDoreign and Stevens of the Tau'ri. And you also, Gaius Justinius and Sophrus Marcipor. I will take you to them."

The Jaffa led them away from the gate, leaving the other to guard it.

Outside the council chamber, the Jaffa escorting looked at the group. "The council has taken a short recess. Tempers became out of hand earlier, during discussions of a different matter than this. Only one of the Tau'ri officers will speak before the council."

Stevens pointed to Ka'te. "That would be her." She looked from the Jaffa to the younger woman. "I'll be just inside the doorway, Lieutenant."

Ka'te nodded in confirmation and took the recess as an opportunity to talk to the Romans.

"I've already explained the basics of your situation. What they want from you is some sort of proof that you aren't lying and that you'll cooperate with them. I'll basically introduce you, and you'll both just have to tell them why they should trust you."

Both men nodded, not much for talking unless needed. Soon, the Council members began filing past them into the chambers, and the Jaffa guard ushered them in.

Ka'te introduced the group and explained how they had discovered the Free Roman and Jaffa members by defeating Zeus' forces and questioning their captives. Then, she gave the floor to Sophrus.

Sophrus stepped forward and bowed. He told the Council what he had told Ka'te earlier, of how he had discovered that the Goa'uld were not gods and that there were those who opposed them. He told the Council of his wish for his men to serve the resistance, and how he feared their cover had been lost when they'd been separated from the other Jaffa prisoners. He told them of his plans to return and continue to inform his misguided brothers about the false gods. The Council asked him a few general questions, before asking Gaius for his statement.

Gaius stepped forward and saluted the Council. "Centurion Gaius Justinius, Masters. We are not so great in numbers as you. Our false gods stayed in the shadow of the System Lords. We didn't know why they had this sudden rise to power until they began to do battle with the Lords. It was only then that we heard whispers of the Tau'ri and how they disrupted a 4000 year-old reign."
He glanced at the two women, "And in such a short time. They don't look the part."

[DragonGate]

Gerak stood from his place. "I move that the debate begin immediately, so that our . . . burdened allies will not have to accommodate the warriors of Zeus for much longer."

Bra'tac spoke, "We should allow them to come to Dakara. All of those who desire freedom from false gods will be welcomed."

Kal'el protested, "We do not have the resources to take others. And do we really wish to involve ourselves with another group of false gods by accepting their people?"

Gerak held up a hand. "We are already involved with the Olympians by their crippling attack on our allies, the Tau'ri. Brothers Sophrus' and Gaius' people should be allowed to come and increase our numbers here."

Bratac's ally Maz'rai spoke, "All who want freedom are welcome. Numbers are a small concern, as the Goa'uld have fallen."

Gerak, "That is true. We are currently the strongest power of the alliance, after the devastation brought on the Tau'ri. I move for a vote now."

Several voices seconded the motion. The council made their votes.

The Council returned a vote in favor of welcoming Gaius and Sophrus' men, as Ka'te expected. They could use even the few numbers, and the members who had opposed the motion were either the nitpickers of the group, or just wanted the Council to think carefully about their resources.

MacDoreign thanked the Council on behalf of the Tau'ri, and the group headed back to the gate to retrieve the Jaffa from the Alpha Site.

As they headed back to the gate, Stevens was musing to herself. 'Was it just me or did Gerak put a wee bit too much emphasis on our current condition?' But she dismissed it, deciding it was her military paranoia the far-less-military Ka'te joked about. At the gate, she ordered, "Dial it up, Lieutenant." Stevens punched in the IDC and prepared to transmit.

Ka'te punched in the unfamiliar Alpha Site address, this being her first trip offworld since the destruction of Earth.

Fortunately there were no problems this time, and the gate spun, locked, and whooshed.
