Hmm...I'm seeing the 'winning Vala' working in your first concept Isa...Jack(in whatever his role is) has hauled Daniel along to a 'brothel', where Daniel inadvertantly wins a poker game and hasn't realized that Vala is the 'pot' so to speak.
But in the Egypt one it works too...he wins her in poker game with a Sheik and they end up having to share a compartment for the train trip to the coast to get the ship back to England.
Okay stopping now(she said with her fingers crossed behind her back), before 'best' gets derailed.

If it's an AU with Vala in a brothel and Daniel coming to own her without setting off to do so...that's pretty much the entire premise of Perchance To Live...Jack's there too although I don't have Daniel winning her I can't wait to read whatever you guys come up with! I especially like the idea of setting it in Egypt in the olden days

He's kinda given up on ever succeeding in defeating the Ori, he's just tired of trying to defeat them alone (meaning no help from the Ancients). It's really an AMAZING scene.

^_^ My sister and I were just watching that movie yesterday actually... and you know what I just figured out? Daniel and Vala are totally like Meg and Hercules. I mean Meg and Vala are two decieving people who in the end realise that somethings are worth fighting for... or as Meg says "People do crazy things, when they're in love." *sigh* I love that movie.

Woo! You all got excited about Victorian Vala. But, far be it from me to throw my English Lit degree around, I think you'll find that Lady Chatterley's Lover wasn't a Victorian novel, was published first in Italy in 1928 and not in UK until the 1960's. Having read a pile of novels of that era, you wouldn't get a bodice stripper without the equivalent brown paper bag i.e. porn.

Novels and decadence of the age were a totally different thing. However, a fanfic set then, why not!
