Welcome! This week’s challenge is:



Setting Challenge: Hotel

Location, location, location! This week’s challenge is all about setting. You can interpret the setting anyway you like (stretch if to its limits if you must) but your response should include the setting above.

How does it work?

• A new challenge/prompt will be posted on Wednesday
• Responses should be self-contained stories (no word minimum or limit unless length was specified as part of the challenge) that take place in one chapter (or art/vid if that’s what strikes your fancy). Works can be shared as soon as they’re ready. Post your work at your archive of choice, website, journal, etc. or behind spoiler tags within the thread. (If you want to hold your submission back until the master post, that’s fine too.)
• The challenge closes the following Tuesday at 2200 GMT (that’s 5:00p EST)
• PM a link to your challenge response to Amara D’Angeli. Tuesday evenings, links to all the responses for each challenge will be collected together into one post for easy navigation.

What do you do if you break the “rules”?

So you didn’t quite hit a word count or you didn’t adhere on a structure challenge. Maybe a setting challenge worked better for you if you interpreted it loosely. Don’t worry! It’s all good. Submit your response anyway. (We totally want to see it!)

We review episodes, and then have discussions about the episodes. You pick episodes (provided they haven't already been taken) and then when all of them are claimed a schedule is set up.

It's a lot of fun.

Are we talking from a SJ slant? There are some S5 eps that don't really have SJ stuff happening.

Are we talking from a SJ slant? There are some S5 eps that don't really have SJ stuff happening.

Yes, we do try to find shippyness wherever we can But we do a general review of each episode, maybe point out favorite lines or moments and things that we found interesting and usually give it 2 ratings, one for the overall episode and one for a S/J shippyness level.

Here is an example of an excellent review that Nei did of Season 4's Crossroads, a very non-shippy episode.

Mainly the point of the rewatch is to generate discussion, shippy or otherwise

The S/J slant is only a part of the reviews. And for that part in those episodes that don't really have S/J we either look for it, or just say that there really isn't much of an S/J presence.

“I’m scared, Sir.”

“Me too.”

“Are you sure we can do this?”

“Why not? We both like a challenge, right?”

“A challenge, Sir?”

“Sure. This isn’t going to be easy ya know.”

“True, but after all this time should we really be worried?”

“Well, there’s always Plan C.”

“I thought this was Plan C.”

“Plan D then.”

“And that would be?”

“We forget this whole thing and just head to the cabin, indefinitely!”

“While I definitely love the second part of Plan D, we really shouldn’t just ditch our friends. We can do this.”

“Yes. We can.”

“I like the sound of that, Sir.”

“Carter, we’re about to, well…you know, can you drop the Sir?”

“Sure, Jack.”

“Thank you. And, Sam?”

“Hmmm?”

“I love you. You know that, right?”

“Always, Jack, always.”
