Original Starship Design Thread

Forgive my ineptatude or laziness but there is a load of pages on this so what is this thread if someone could give me some idea.

i just came upon a great idea where we have an awards or ranking for some of the best desgins in the thread, you could post your best desgins, or have a comp, or vote for a couple of designs not including your own

That could be cool, but it would involve alot of work! If we get a folder for ships, which im hoping to do then we could have a best fan design tournement thread..

Yeah like the idea for special folder for ship design, perhaps eventuall expanded to species design and may be even to other areas such as costume and perhap hand held weapns and so fourth, eventually we could get entire species design with their own ships weapons and uniforms, whatever any one else can do. May be I am getting a carried away with this but it would be quite good./

At the moment ive asked darren for a folder for ship design and ship discussion. Which take up a large %age of the section. This in all likely hood will just end up being ship design..Either way it will give the two largest threads to expand. i can think of loads of spins offs to the OSDT and the GWF and im sure you can too. Its definintly a case of needing more space because everyone has got loads of awesome ideas for expansion and im hoping darren will give us the room to do that.

with the budget for the dd x class battleship cut due to the focus of the space fleet, the US viewed they needed a more battleship orientated space craft. They came upon the idea of a pocket battleship, though heavily armed, with fast sublight speeds, and top shielding. The minotaur class is baout a third of the size of the daedalus class, but with a sixth of the crew complement of the daedlaus. The the minotaur is armed with over 30 rail guns including a new beta class which carries larger armanents, it has more vls than the daedlaus, due to more free space, also a new design was formulated based on the daedalus' tactic against the hive ship heading for earth, there are two forward rotating mulit lauching vls' , and 4 on top they offer a very quick fire rate for the mark "friday" XIII nukes which are equipped with a sublight engine for very qucik hits, the ship is also faster a t sublight speeds in comparison to the daedalus which it has forfeited for hyper drive speeds.
The biggest improvements is the forward sensor unit built with asguard help using some of the specs from atlantis and the orion befor it was destroyed, it offers a communication array and sensors in one, with a range of almost a sixth of the mw for tracking large ships, for smaller ones not so much.

nah sorry, i might come up with one over the holdiays though. Imma working on the fleet uber guide atm so my times kinda on a budget lol
I really want to design a new fighter so that might be in the pipeline if i have time

I like that designe, it look cool. A few to many rail guns for the size of the vessel, although just my opinion. Although I do like your missile options.

I am currently working on what be a ancient version of a scout vessel/attack vessel. It looking cool, hopfully, as I have almost caught up with a uni work I will be completing some of my design. I got a five on the go at the moment. But all are looking cool. Hopfully few weeks I will have them all finished and then I will start animating them, hopfully into a mini flight sequence, may be for a victory fly pass or a battle not to sure let, well it depends on whether I get a graphics card in the next few weeks then I will be able to do partical effects, which will mean weapon fire.

Nice idea, unfortunately I do not see any one giving a away a model of Atlantis, and my modeling skills and probably my computer are not up to the task of doing such a thing my self. Although I will be asking a lecturer if my uni have got a rendering farm, which I can have access although I doubt they do, if they do then it just my modeling and my home computer I will have to work on improving.

yeah I could imagine the scene right now, the crew of Atlantis and tyla people and may be others, celebrating the defeat of the wraith. Music playing in the background, suddenly, stop and, and the fire works going of into the night sky, then suddenly a fleet of f302 and RSF ravens doing a low fly over of the crowd, with a Cort strew , with three Daedalus class vessels following and suddenly the angle and three ancient scout and attack vessels, and plus the RSF Excalibur and invincible, all flying over a fully let Atlantis, it would make a beautiful scene, truly stunning, and unfortunantly way beyond what I am currently able to do, but you never know may be somewhere down the line, I may do such a thing, I always hope.
