Cool!
And Martin dear, DON'T GO GETTING ANY IDEAS!! I happen to be as attached to Radek as I am to Rodney.
*Stamps "Do not kill!" on Radek after stamping "Property of Atlantis" on MG*
Although I would like to see him interact with characters other than Rodney. His conversation with Beckett and Sheppard at the beginning of Duet truly perked my interest. Rodney pushes him so hard all the time. It would be nice to Radek try to get some of his own back with a prank or two. And to have some ready-made,yet unlikely, allies standing by to help him do it.
In the meantime though...
*Goes back and doublestamps that "Do not kill"...*"Just smile and wave, boys...Just smile and wave."

Hmmm... I thought something was off about my Top Five list. Runner wasn't written by Martin or Carl, it was written by RCC. *is appalled by her mistake*
So do I stick with my intense loyalty to Rainbow, or swap in Siege, which was excellent as long as you ignore the entire existence of Everett and the instances of Shep/Weir ship?
Maybe I'll make it a tie. Siege had great tension and good storytelling, but Runner still had SuperFord. Siege had AWESOME McKay and Zelenka stuff (hee!), but Runner had the snarky Major Lorne.

It's here because it was suggested to me that other fans of Martin might enjoy it and that this might be the appropriate place to post it. I try to post my vids where they would be most appreciated. It would be inappropriate for me to post a ship vid in an anti-ship thread for instance. Most people there would not appreciate it. Like fanfiction, vids are made by fans for fans. They are merely entertainment.
Now back to our regularly scheduled Martin Gero appreciation.
And I really want to see your vid, rather sad that certain pc things aren't working for me, so not only can I not watch your vid but also can't rewatch my recording of Duet.
Anyone else wondering if Martin's SG-1 ep is named The Powers That Be has anything to do with wanting to confuse fans on forums... I can just imagine typing TPTB and people ending up confused if others mean the episode or the writers, in certain contexts.

And then there's cyberstalking the poor man.
Careful, or he might figure out how to go into his controls and adjust his options so he appears invisible. Then we'd NEVER know when he was on!
Of course, we'd also never know when he was on and might think that he got disgusted and ABANDONED US FOREVER!!
Nah, he's too cool a guy to do that.

Originally posted by PurpleyinOh, don't worry, my post wasn't directed at anyone specifically - was just replying to qasimjavid's question of why. Personally I've never been sure if fanvids would be okay to show writers/cast etc, I would have thought so, the officials at MGM not so much, not sure if they'd like the concept of them anymore than the RIAA would.

As much as I want to stamp MG *property of Atlantis*, I sure am glad he's writing SG-1 this week, they *really* need some new blood over there and I'm sure he'll do great job of it! I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do with all of the new characters over there.

Well, as promised, I watched TPTB and... All I can say is that I didn't loathe it. Coming from me, that's a minor miracle and a true testament to Martin's abilities.
That being said, I didn't love the ep, either. It wasy way too Law & Order/Practice for me. I don't like lawyer shows on a good day and SG-1 isn't supposed to be a lawyer show. Still, this is an appreciation thread and there was still a lot to like about the ep. Surprisingly (to me) one of them was Vala. From everything I've read about her I expected her to be some porn star pirate queen, but she actually seemed human in this ep and by the end I thinkher concern for the people was genuine.
Good dynamic between Dr. Lam and General Landry. Ignoring stuff that isn't Martin's fault, I thought it was a nice hint of deeper issues and a possible indication as to the direction of the "issues". Ditto the interactions with SG-1 (such as it is). Teal'c's random presence wasn't explained, but I figure it probably got cut to make room for some idiotic ad. I really really wish he hadn't said "Indeed" but the poor man seems doomed to say it at least once in every episode. *sigh*
The expositiony stuff was... well, expositiony, but I was interested enough that I didn't pick up on the subversion until after the ep was over.
Basically, the whole ep was WAY too much talk and not enough action, but from what I've been reading, that seems to be par for the course this season, especially the whole Daniel Is the Center of the Universe stuff. Alas.
I'm sorry, Martin, I tried really hard to love this ep, but... like I said, the fact that I didn't completely hate it is an accomplishment in itself. I don't think I COULD like it anymore. Not with the way it is, now.
Ah well. Crisis over and now you can go back to writing excellently dramatic, tensiony, actiony, snark-iony eps of Atlantis. Much, MUCH better with a cast that's still dynamic and a story that's still flexible and very few corners that are painted into, if you'll pardon the preposition.
Now all we gotta do is wait for... Conversion? Sounds intriguing. I wonder if Lorne's in it.
*wanders off to check*
