Hi folks, just about adjusted to UK time again. thank you all for such a great couple of weekends. It was a blast. More cohernet thankyous will follow when my brain catches up with the rest of me.

    Now we look to AT5.

We have a few ( and I do mean a few) tickets left so don't dally around if you are still thinking you want to attend.

I have a couple of things to sort with the hotel before releaseing the booking code to you all. I am not happy all the booking methods work as they should so please bear with us for a couple of weeks while we sort it out. The rooms are blocked out from general sale, therefore not going anywhere so don't panic!

    Cocktail party lottery coming soon.

    Hugs Becks

      Welcome home Becks

I've only just got myself off of Vangroovy time, mainly because I was unwilling to let go

        Never too early.

Since I've done the JTRW before I'll skip it this time but great fun for all those who have not been.

I did find it inconvenient to be at the Ren when sightseeing after the con because it wwas a long tube ride from there. Thinking I will do my touring before AT5 and stay at a different hotel then switch to the Ren for the weekend and head home right after since the Ren is so convenient to the airport.

Ahhh, I see. Was super cute.

Hope you are over the jet-lag soon and take a much deserved rest.

Thank you! Hope you take some much needed rest as well. Can't believe you actually have the energy at this stage to even mention AT5!

Thanks to Pengyn, SamJackShipLover and Mala for the sig.

I'm definitely staying at the Renaissance. So much easier, no hassling around. But there are probably quite a few people who will not be staying and will be looking for a cheaper hotel.
Becky just posted the rates on the gabit forum .. 90 GBP for a double room including breakfast, so if you find someone to room with it's 45 GBP each.

Oh, as to sightseeing etc. I will be probably not going to this year. If I do bring Milou, it'll be very unpractical. If I don't bring her ... probably no sightseeing, cause then I don't want to miss her for too long.

Last time the week spend in London was wonderful though! Very fond memories

I'll share my room with DM, now she is on holidays but before leaving she told me about a cheaper hotel. But I saw that the Heathrow airport is far from the center...uhm...I think that I'll arrive on 10th and leave on 14th so maybe we could stay one night in the city center and move to the Ren for the Con (I'll even arrive/leave from Gatwick not Heathrow!)

I am not sure if you have ever been to Tijuana, but it is *really not* a recommended tourist destination. San Diego is gorgeous and worth a trip down there form L.A., but I recommend staying on this side of the border.

Welcome home Mumsey and Becky glad both SE and MTM were such a success! Everyone sounds like they had a great time!

Hope you both manage to get some rest and the jetlag doesn't last to long. *huge hugs*

We've done it before too, but the tour was run so well that we thought doing it again would be fun.

Yeah, we looked at that, but thought crossing the border might be more fun; throw a little exotic into our plans and the tequilla, well... Besides, it's a lot cheaper based on some hotel prices we found compared to those anywhere in California. Was it Tijuana or just Mexico in general that you would avoid?

antoa will know much better since she is closer to the action but isn't Tijuna one of the very bad places for drug gang wars? Really don't think that is somewhere you want to stay. There's exoctic and then there's dangerous.

A number of Canadians have been killed in Mexico even at resorts. One of the worst things about it is that the police/governments don't care and little or no investigation is done. Mexico is not on my list of places to visit as a result. Bad things can happen anywhere but when no one cares enough to do something about it that's when they lose my business.

Tijuana specifically. There is a reason why hotels are cheaper there. It can be dangerous especially for 2 females traveling alone. I have never been there, because I have heeded the warnings from other not to go. It truly is *not* a tourist place. As cliche as it sounds, the type of people that go there are idiot frat boys looking to get stupid drunk.

Thanks Julia. We had a great time, and were very grateful that both events were a success - with two very different fandoms attending. Much fun was had by all.

As far as Jet Lag goes, I have found that the older I get - the longer it takes me to get over it. Day two home (yesterday) is always 'Zombie' day. After that, it takes a few more days to get my sleep pattern back into order.

Lovely to have just one event to see to now. Juggling not my strong point.

Thanks. I knew Tijuana was a party city...believe my brother even went there for spring break one year. I just thought that there was a division of sorts between the seedier parts and the more touristy parts of the city. But, yeah. Traveling anywhere IMO takes on certain risks, but tis better not to push the bill. We'll just do a bit of modification as we're still in the, "Ooh, how bout here?!' part of our planning stage together. We might want to pick your brain later, Antoa, for some insights into Calif. if your up to it.

Yes, Eh-T is right, the corrupt government found in the border towns only exacerbates the situation. Truly, since Southern California used to be a part of Mexico, you can still get a lot of the culture without the 'fun' of a corrupt government. Dude, there are even parts of L.A. that I know to avoid.

LA is fun, but I would be very careful about going to TJ especially if you are staying there for a few days. It isn't the safest place in the world to be, in fact, none of Mexico is that safe these days. There is a war going on between the Police and the drug cartel and they leave a lot of victims. It has moved across the border in the SW part of the US as well. Maybe think about staying in San Diego for a few days instead.

I just read Antoa's reply. Please, do listen to what she says. TJ is "barely" safe for two women in the the daytime. At night, you can't even leave your hotel. IT IS NOT SAFE! That isn't a warning...it is a fact. Women have disappeared and never get seen again. Victims from all over the world have been killed and no one there does much of anything.

It wasn't safe 30 or more years ago for women (without a male escort) to go there at night. Now, it has gotten 1000+% worse. You might be lucky, but the odds are playing AGAINST you. Please, do not stay overnight or even an evening in TJ. IT IS NOT SAFE! I don't know how else I can tell you. If you want to get a cheaper flight then leave San Diego in the morning and head directly to the airport. I know US citizens of Mexican decent that won't go there at night. I don't know how else to warn you. PLEASE DON'T DO IT.

Yeah, I'm thinking not. Thanks for the warnings.
