Oh, definitely. She's still out there, and there's always a chance that Rodney can figure out a way to bring her back without putting Atlantis in danger.

Heh. Given what else JF has said over the course of this whole fiasco, it would not surprise me one damn bit if he played Sheppard that way... especially if it's not in the script!

Sparky is on screen. Therefore, it is canon. Elizabeth is still out there. And John WILL bring her home.

Amen sister. Someone should ask him about that at the next con. Isn't he doing one in the UK soon? Ask him if he thinks they should go get her. Heh.

            SYMBOLISM.

            Spoiler:
Hopefully not just ours, but thier's too, though I doubt they even know what it is. It seems theres a possibility of lots of symbolism in 'Vegas' judging by the convo. Must see this, so I can practice being all literary-geeky and stuff.

They can't write an intelligent woman who can take care of herself by using words as her weapon, isn't a sexed-up tart, and uses her brain for philosophical pursuits rather than cold and dry science.
I love Binder!Lizzie and Binder!Teyla. I hate it when Lizzie is reduced to 'worrying mommy' and Teyla to warrior babe in the background, which Binder doesn't do.

On a related note, this is why I think TPTB decided to get rid of Lizzie and replace her with Carter. (And put mummy Teyla in the background and shove in a flaky Keller in her place, but that's a different subject.) They can't write women for the most part. Carter, to be honest, is more of a traditionally masculine character than Elizabeth, if you get what I'm saying. And you can do whatever you'd like with Keller.

            Lazy lazy lazy.

You shall come over to the Vegas side dear. It's a wonderful epi, meaningful & from the looks around here has sparked pages upon pages of convo. Can't be all bad right?

As for Carter ... I loved Carter in SG1. Even with her masculine mannerisms she fit her character well. She was enjoyable most of the time. On Atlantis she delivered Elizabeth's lines w/o her panache.

                About symbolism.

I just finished the Vegas fic and I'm waiting for the green light from my beta - I keep making parallels between Vegas!John and Al Pacino's character in The Godfather, Michael Corleone. First, I find they have the same unfortunate flaw (which does result in very different behavior); but then there were also (folks who saw Godfather will get it better I think)

                Spoiler:
that casino conversation in the ep, which I loved; and when the Wraith was shooting at John and made swiss cheese out of his car it reminded me of the killing of Santino Corleone (first movie) a bit too much.
                .
I'm not weird, I'm limited edition.

                  Symbolism in Vegas.
                  Spoiler:
You may have hit on part of why I'm so into this one. It brought back the old English major days when I could write 10 pages on the symbolism behind the color green or do an indepth study of a character's relationship to his mother reflected in his treatment of his goldfish. Just joking but not far off. The cross was like a hammer to the back of the head...a redemption anvil if you will. All they needed to do was have him die with his arms outstretched. You could even say when he stretched out his arms and got patted down sorry, lost my train of thought for a moment by the guy before he was allowed into the poker game, that it had a bit of a sacrificial lamb vibe. If you really wanted to torture the symbolism. LOL

                      Ooooh, I like that.

                      There's more.
                      Spoiler:
He wore the cross and he had a new, clean shirt, which was white. If I'm not mistaken white is the color of purity, he was sacrificing himself in order to save everyone so we could assume his soul was purified? I used to be good at this too.

For more torture symbolism, try Remnants. Not only the ep was about leftovers of a civilization, we could see that this John is actually leftovers of what he used to be. At least that's how I saw the whole ep.... John's part was the only one worth watching anyway.

Since we're on this thread, I definitely see the chemistry John and Elizabeth have together.
And I missed her presence on the show.

Yes I did. SK has it. I'm totally uncertain about it, the characterization and how I pulled it off. The ep itself is too good, I don't know if I could ever do it justice.
