Oh and I agree about Fleetwood Mac have the better version of Songbird. As a rule, I generally like original versions of songs over covers...there are some exceptions, but only a few.

My exceptions are fairly standard... Nirvana/Bowie, Man Who Sold The World, That 90s Dance Band/The Klaxons, Not Over Yet, NIN/Johnny Cash, Hurt. Actually, Johnny Cash on Bridge Over Troubled Water as well.

Yeah, as I said, there are exceptions. Most of the time I think covers are cool if they are done by proper bands and reworked into a different sort of sound. I have no respect for pop groups taking a song and making it sound all commercial or trying to pretend to be the original.
For example I really like Lostprophets version of 'Cry Me A River'. The other day I also heard Guns N Roses version of 'Live and Let Die' which also wasn't that bad.
