It would be better said that the Wraith do not lie. Think about it - they are telepathic creatures - they dare not lie to one another because the lie would immediately be exposed. We have never seen a Wraith 'lie'. HOWEVER, we have seen a Wraith double-talk. For instance, when Todd said he wanted the Hoffan information for his 'hive, and his hive alone' - he could easily have meant ANY hive allied with him - more than one. In his mine, he would not be lying, but...deceptive. There is a bit of a difference.

And we have seen the Wraith keep their word. Todd kept his word in Common Ground, and other episodes. Michael kept his word in No Man's Land (when helping Sheppard) - in Michael's case, it was definitely the humans who lied, deceived and double-crossed. Imagine if it was YOU...kidnapped from your family, your memory erased, your appearance changed...and then lied to about EVERYTHING! And still, Michael tried to help the humans, only to be betrayed again.

Yeah - the Wraith are no worse than people.

Also, YES they DO have a choice in whether they eat humans; it is shown that wraith can live perfectly well from feeding on fellow wraith in many episodes...so Wraith could choose not to kill humans if they weren't so mean! haha. On earth; humans attack humans, why should it change when you talk about Wraith? They have their 'hives' and allies, they are simply being picky when they say they HAVE to prey on humans (just because everything and everyone else "tastes bad")
Ah, but if you could eat steak, would you resort to eating people instead (cannibalism). Remember, when Wraith feed on their own, that is cannibalism. Some Wraith may have an issue with that (though I personally don't think they do). But still, isn't cannibalism 'meaner' than feeding on something you're not related to?

Ah, the Wraith. They aren't 'mean'. Vicious, yet...like tigers. You certainly wouldn't want to see all tigers killed just because some are maneaters, now would you?

Besides, the Wraith are beautiful creatures. They take pride in their appearance - they're well-groomed and very fashionable. They have a great sense of humor. And, above all, they're computer geeks. Didn't you see Todd's eyes light up when Rodney gave him that tablet? You just KNOW he was thinking, "Excellent! Now I can play WoW on-line all the time!"

I know that most of the members here are fans of killing the Wraith but people think about it - don't we eat cows??? Are we monsters?

Ok i will admit the Wraith ARE intelligent creatures, i mean they've got hyperdrives (of a sort) and SHIPS for that matter!

So, are you just gonna flash and go?
Spurt your bile then be off--because you haven't obviously read what we've posted lately. Of course you've got an opinion, as do we, and you are entitled to it. However, if you want to have an intelligent discussion, come back when you're ready to stay a while.

It reminded me of something I thought of a couple of weeks ago and forgot. Humans have tonnes of parasitic species living in almost every single nook and cranny of the body, most of them harmless, some of them very specialised and evolved to live in one place only. I wondered if, over the millennia, anything would've evolved to live on Wraith. I'm not just talking ticks and lice (included though), but also bacteria, fungus, small organisms that lives in the mouth and...well, pretty much everywhere. After all, how -did- some of their teeth end up like that?

I've wondered this, too. I assume there are some critters that may live on the Wraith - I think it would be poetic justice if they had something sucking on THEM for a change, like fleas. And I'm sure they have some bacterias and things that live on them - mites, perhaps - it just seems part of all nature for one living thing to be the host of another.

Heh. Would be funny if Todd had fleas, and fussy ol' Rodney got infested with 'em...lol...

Okay. Sounds like a plan. I'll let you win...but then, I gotta eat you. See, we 'Wraith' don't like losing. It makes us cranky.

And hey, no problem. We seize any opportunity we can to defend our lovely green buggies!

Well, maybe it's bacterias or sugar that started to eat on their teeth, because they don't brush them, like Bob does...

I wonder....would bigger parasites (fleas, ticks, lice) possibly be considered a pest in a Hive, where it looks like the Wraith live in very close proximity to each other, thereby easing...err....colonization from one Wraith to another?

Or is it possible they wouldn't even care? Then again, I reckon anything big living on Wraith would have to be pretty tough and have a mean set of jaws on them (ouch! + itchy!)....most Wraith seem to have this oily sort of secretion on their skin? Could this possibly work as a natural deterrent amongst other things?

Heheh. Getting bitten by Wraith fleas would -hurt- I would imagine!

I'd much rather have Steve or Todd nibble on me, than one of their fleas...

I suspect that the Wraith would be incensed if something DARED to feed upon THEM! They would probably use every means available to rid themselves - and their hives - of parasites. When anyone lives in close quarters like that, keeping vermin under control is a top priority. So, I think the Wraith would have very strict hygiene in this regard, never allowing other critters the chance to feast upon them.

thanks to you, das, I'm now picturing steve with fleas... all that hair, poor guy.

I'm not sure wraith have fleas, so on. we haven't really seen host animals besides humans/wraith and no insects aside from the iratus bug and the energy bugs. insects such as ticks and fleas might not even live in the PG.

In which case, bigger parasites may never have had chance to get to a stage where Wraith may be palatable to them, if they are eradicated as soon as they're detected?

I'm still curious if there would be any smaller organisms, perhaps those they can't see. Of course this doesn't mean they won't be detected for certain, but if they're viewed as harmless....and what about those that aren't "harmless"?

I put forward that some Wraith seem to be in need of some dental hygiene again....what's this caused by? Did it happen back when they still ate human food? Is there something that lives inside a Wraith mouth? Several things?

Although most teeth seem to be intact....*ponders*

                            Sorry for the rambling

Also I suppose most of these things like to live in hair indeed. We don't even know whether Wraith have hair other than that which grows on their head and face, although I think it was discussed before *words carefully*

Alas for missing/skimmed over information and details All must be speculated

Well, what keeps our mouths clean is that we DO eat and drink - it washes the bacteria out...especially the drinking part. So, if the Wraith never 'flush' their mouths out with water, or even food - the bacteria just must go crazy!

Flanigan, in some interview somewhere, said the Wraith have terrible breath. LOL...kinda funny...maybe they have Captain Jack Sparrow breath, eh?
