Bajka beat me to the wiki links. Asterix books were a part of my teenage years and hugely responsible for my Roman Empire obsession. They were filled with 60 and 70's pop culture references and incredibly fun. Due to the supposedly Latin derived names, it would be a short and easy step to compare the Ancient/Lantean culture with the Romans and our beloved wraith with the clever, resourceful Gauls.
