I think part of it is GW's size. People form into groups and you are either invisible and they ignore you, or they respond like that thread you visited where they were downright rude. It's ridiculous that adults (I take it that they were adults) would act like that. What I hate is that they tend to gang up on whoever they are attacking as well.

GW seems to think the anti threads are the problem. They aren't. The people who generally go into an anti thread are companionable about not liking whatever. The real problem are the regular threads where the people are just pain rude to anyone outside of their group which they've been in for a hundred years or so. LOL (Okay, so my last statement was a a bit of a hyperbole.)

Big hug. Don't let those nasty people get you down!!!

Thanks for the hug. I really wasn't aware of the attitude on some other threads and now I can understand why the forum managers felt a need to post new rules. And I'm probably just being a bit oversensitive today; real life has been difficult today and I'm a little down. I think I need a hot bath and a glass of wine.

But I just wanted to say how much I appreciate this thread and the nice folks who visit here.

I hate that eh? Be a clique somewhere else...oh wait a minute HIGH SCHOOL riiiiight!

You know at the end of the day, it is our compulsion if you really believe something, you try to get other people to see it your way--I don't think there is anything wrong with this. This is why I think it is important to have voices of descent. But at the end of the day, the most important thing to achieve is that people make you think, and that you give them something to think about. You may never agree, but there's nothing wrong with that. And being civil! Ug! I would never post on-line with some of the turd mouths I've seen on other forums. They have no respect. They have no respect for other people's points of view and you can tell because they don't have the decency to think about what you've said and respond reasonably.

I second that. Das was very encouraging to me about handling silliness like that a few months back when I hit a wall.

But, as I've said before, it's not a medical show, it's sci-fi. So I try to cut them a little slack.
Lol - when Keller went to pull her mask of was like "are you kidding??" And why wasn't she at the very least wearing a lead apron, if not a HASMAT suit, even dealing with residual radiation. I know they have a physicist on staff for consultation but it's very obvious they don't have a medical expert. Probably can't afford it. (Sidenote: My dad was a pathologist, my mom was a nurse and there are three other doctors in my family. None of us can watch any medical dramas. The only one we can agree on is "Scrubs". My brother said it's the most realistic portrayal of the treatment of interns and residents he's ever seen. )

I agree that the writing for SGA has been too fragmented to be really satisfactory. Maybe it is because they have so many different authors and each of them has a different style and different favorite characters that they like to feature in their particular stories, but whatever the reason it did lack an overall arc to hold the season together. At least in the last 2 seasons.
I think this is a major factor as to why there is so much contradiction (esp in the Wraith), lack of character arcs and lack of *completion* in arc in this show. Plus I'll just load a heap of blame on Mr. Brad Wright, as I always like to do, for good measure.

I agree. Once again, I think part of the problem is with the different writers each having their own agenda. Like you, I do enjoy a story arc that comes to a conclusion. However, I enjoy stories that leave me with some unresolved elements that I can continue to think about long after I have finished reading or viewing the tale.
As a viewer and a writer, I'm in total belief of leaving something up to the watcher/reader's imagination. But sometimes I think the writers get lazy and use this excuse instead of fleshing out a story or tying up loose ends. But yeah, once everyone sees EATG, I'd like to hear thoughts and opinions, but I'd be pretty content if they just ended it all there.

I missed this the first read-thru. I have also tried venturing out into other threads. The episode discussions, other new threads that have popped up, but yeah, it's just as separatist as real society is. I don't think there's any reason for any of us to try and stick around in places were not wanted - not on a silly sci-fi forum. It's unfortunate, yes, but I'll take my comfort and just hang out where I like what's being discussed, even if I don't agree on all of it and can respect the others I talk with because they respect me in kind.

It can be hard to put in my tuppence worth when I'm just popping in and out and not on forum all night. But it's great reading all these posts and catchign up on everything you've all been discussing. It's a joy to read - especially as with every post I read my view changes somewhat...
"Oh, yeah, I agree with that - oh but hang on, she's got a good point there"!!!
But at the end of the day, that's what it's all about is it not? Yeah, I know - my world is full of people who just shout louder instead of chewing over and considering different viewpoints and even - God forbod! - incorporating them into their own views!
That's why I love it so much here - I feel right at home! *Wraithy hug to all of you*
Being still quite new here I've been lurking a lot of other threads and never felt the same urge to post elsewhere - for the very reasons you've brought up here, which is a real shame. I've made a conscious decision to stick to the Wraith-centric threads simply because IMHO that's where the most thoughtful and reasonable people hang out.
I don't know if that says more about us or about the Wraith!

                      Nice to meet you too.
Also yes, I'd say that a lot of people get attracted to the wraith because of the uhhh "goth"/"metaler" overtones. Me included of course.

Some people are just narrow minded, we've all done it in certain situations.
No I don't think your being oversensitive just because real life was difficult today and it made you feel down. I just take the view after alot of muttering under my breath......that if they can't be open minded about other people posts which can bring new ideas to discuss, well more fool them. They don't know what they are missing their loss and its our gain because you came back here to put your comments for us to think feel and reply to.

Hi there. Yeah, what's about the nippless wraith? XD
There has been some discussion about the anatomic differences between humans and male Wraith, mostly based on screen-caps (and very nice ones, too) from various members. A lot of them have been removed, but here is one that das posted a while back:http://forum.gateworld.net/showpost....ostcount=16229 And Joe Mallozzi mentioned something about "nippleless Wraith" on his blog the other day when he was talking about Robert Cooper stopping by soon to answer questions on the blog.

Edit: And thanks for all the moral support everyone!

I agree that those here are very civil and polite. Its always nice to follow the decisions. When there are 2 side to a view, members discuses them, not yell at one another, or resort to name calling. Which I have seen on other threads. This is truly an enjoyable thread to be part of and everyone is open and welcoming to new members. I enjoy following along and challenging what I think. I usually don’t post my thoughts because I have a hard time writing what I mean. I prefer to just sit back and enjoy the process. Its amazing how much insight people here have. Now if only others were so open.

I think its both. I think that those of us that see more to the wraith than just the "villain" are probably very open minded people. I think we have a tendency to except others for who they are, no matter how different, and can find beauty in what most can not. Whether its because we actually take the time to truly see some one or something before judging or just that we are willing to recognize and accept the differences that make us who we are. Im willing to respect ones beliefs even if i don’t agree with them.

Yet I cant fathom why not everyone finds our big green bugs sexy!
