OMG I saw that on the evening news...... I bet the owner of that apartment block was thrilled :/

Long before you and I were born, others beat these benches with their empty cups,
To the night and its stars, to the here and now with who we are.

Another sunrise with my sad captains, with who I choose to lose my mind,
And if it's all we only pass this way but once, what a perfect waste of time.

I bet he is, what with the 50th and Sherlock I bet he's exhausted.

Monthly BFI Screenings for Doctor Who’s 50th!

                  http://www.kasterborous.com/2012/12/...tor-whos-50th/

To celebrate the 50th anniversary next year, the BFI have announced monthly screenings of Doctor Who!

Curated by Dick Fiddy and Justin Johnson, the BFI will screen one serial per Doctor, starting with, naturally, An Unearthly Child, with the wonderful William Hartnell as the first Doctor. BFI writes:

Hartnell created the role of the time- travelling adventurer known only as The Doctor when the show first materialised in 1963. In this opening story we are introduced to the fantastic time machine – The TARDIS – and to the first of the Doctor’s human companions, Ian and Barbara, as they unwittingly find themselves whisked out of their time period and stranded in the far-distant Earth past.
The monthly shows will culminate in November, when they’re expected to show the 50th anniversary special on the big screen.

Though guests are still to be confirmed for the event, tickets to see An Unearthly Child go on sale at 11.30 am on Tuesday 11th December. The very first Doctor Who story will be shown at 3.30pm on Saturday 12th January 2013 at the BFI Southbank, a cinema that can hold up to 450 audience members.

                  Bleeding Cool says:

I expect a complete and total sell-out and a brilliantly excited crowd.
Any guesses as to future screenings? Tomb of the Cybermen maybe? How about The Ark in Space? Is The Caves of Androzani a cert?

Doctor Who gets on the cover another American TV listings magazine.

Edit - Seems so odd to say that given how many times DW has been on the cover of British magazines.

Well its made the cover of several UK TV listing magazines since 1964 especially on Radio Times and, to the best of my knowledge, only once before in America on the cover of Entertainment Weekly...but it absolutely fantastic news that this near 50-year phenomenon has won the poll over big American-made shows to get the cover of a purely US TV listings publication.

'Doctor Who' Christmas special airdate confirmed by BBC
                              Published Tuesday, Dec 4 2012, 16:53 GMT | By Morgan Jeffery |

The BBC has confirmed a Christmas Day airdate for this year's Doctor Who festive special.

'The Snowmen' will retain the sci-fi drama's traditional December 25 slot, airing at 5.15pm on BBC One in the UK.

ITV has scheduled You've Been Framed Christmas and an episode of Emmerdale up against the hour-long special.

The episode - written by Who showrunner Steven Moffat - will reintroduce new companion actress Jenna-Louise Coleman, following her surprise cameo in this year's 'Asylum of the Daleks'.

Matt Smith - who will be starring in his third Who Christmas special - recently claimed that his Doctor is "attracted" to Coleman's character Clara.

"What's interesting with a new companion is that it changes the way he is and affects his personality," Smith said. "I think, in one way or another, the Doctor is always attracted to his companion and he's certainly taken by this striking young lady."

Richard E Grant (Withnail & I) and Tom Ward (Silent Witness) will also appear in 'The Snowmen' - Doctor Who's eighth Christmas special since its revival in 2005.

Good. That means it doesn't clash with the Downton Abbey Christmas special.
