I think I misjudged what the reaction would be. There have been many threads in which a lot of people have expressed how much they didn't like ENT, and how much they hate what it did to ST as a whole. I figured someone coming out screaming "Wooo!!! Go Enterprise" wouldn't be greeted well.
The truth is out there. Getting there, well thats a whole different can of worms.

I half agree with those who dismiss Enterprise, and half agree with those who think it was great... but given that the great was most evident in Season 4, the last season, I was very sad to see Enterprise's cancellation.

The first two seasons were rather slow and plodding, with no major story arcs. At the same time, there were endless and pointless violations of canon. Most of them were like the one with phasers. Phase cannons? Phase pistols? Why? Lasers are just as good for "special effects" purposes. Klingons? Why so soon? There should have been more of a focus on Andorians, Tellarites, Rigellians, and other "canon" races that became Federation members.

Season 3 was O.K. with it's Xindi arc, but a whole season of it just got to be a bit much. So again, Enterprise missed the mark.

But in Season 4, what do we get? Andorian! Tellarites! Vulcan Civil Wars! We get story arcs that are from two to three episodes long rather than a complete season, but yet they tie together. Season 4 of Enterprise was Star Trek at its best. A pity that showrunner Manny Coto, the genius behind Season 4, wasn't given charge earlier on to correct the buffoonery of Brannon Braga and Rick Berman. If he had been, I suspect we'd be in the middle of Season 5 by now.

IMO ENT did not totally suck A$$. Though there was a lot of bad continuity, and some character flaws when TPTB threw out the book on ST when doing ENT, I have to say that noobs to ST would probably enjoy it.
Much like the newer fans of SG who have only seen the S9 of SG-1 and think that it is so gooood, and have not seen the whole show. And that is what the main problem is I think is that TPTB of ST wanted to attract a newer and younger audience instead of the mainstream fan base of ST.
All posts are IMO, I am not a rocket scientist.

Yep. They ignored their core fanbase to chase after another, forgetting the maxim about a bird in the hand.

DS9 was deffinately better but Enterprise was still amazingly good. The only reason why people didn't like it is because they had become to fond of all the cool 24th century tech that was always brandished about in the other series. Also the first season did seem a bit like voyager in some ways.

As for problems with continuity I will say this one more time:
IT WAS A TEMPORAL COLD WAR!!! OF COURSE THE FLIPPIN' TIME LINE WILL CHANGE!!!

That and seasons 1 and 2 were incredibly uncompelling. But apparently that opinion isn't universal.

Oh I gave it plenty of chances. When it premiered I had my popcorn and pop ready, made myself comforatable and prepared to watch. By the halfway point of the first season I was so uninterested I didn't even bother to watch it.

I don't mean to sound confrontational, but don't assume I didn't like it for "so and so" reasons. I know why I didn't like it, I don't need you to tell me.

I stuck with it from the bitter beginning through to the surprisingly excellent season 4. I mean, in season 4 we got backstory! There were intrigues! We weren't confronted with some shoddy space-voyage-kill-the-Xindi thing!

Overall, I guess I liked the series. If I were going to buy a season on DVD, the only one I'd even remotely consider is season 4.

Besides... I had crushes on Trip, Malcolm and Travis. :-D

I think that the characters in Enterprise were some of the best in any trek. They were just more "human" with jealousy and other negative emotions more accurately portrayed than the other treks. The idea was good too, as it brought us back to a more recognisable Earth (like the xenophobia after the Xindi attack etc.)
However I will never agree that this is the best Trek as the plot lines were so badly done. The temporal cold war could have been interesting, but soon lost its way and essentially most of season 1 and 2 were dull. By season 4 I do think things were starting to pick up, and the last 10 episodes were excellent, especially those with the human "National Front" movement (yes i forgot their name). I just wish that we could have had another few seasons, but it was just too little, too late, and I was not at all suprised the show was cancelled.
Don't you want to look beyond the horizon?

In the 2 hours and 14 minutes that Torri Higginson was online, there were 272 posts in the Elizabeth Weir Wow Thread. I was responsible for 2 of them. (Oh yeah and Gateworld crashed, but that's not important)

Enterprise tried too hard to wink and nod at Trek fans with not-so-subtle references to "the future" while simultaneously alienating them with continuity glitches galore and that theme song. It's difficult to know what they were aiming for at the beginning of the show although I don't think that things ever got terribly unwatchable.

One thing that ENT got right from the beginning was foxy babes. The one-two punch of Hoshi and T'pol outdid every other Trek series on the ever important hotness scale.

I didn't like DS9 personally, I found it boring. Loved Voyager from start to finish.

As for enterprise, Season 1 & 2, pretty uninteresting although there were a few good ones, like that one with the Borg.

I didn't like the Xindi story arc, went on for far too long, would have been better as, say, a 5 episode arc or something like that, not a whole season.

With a few exceptions, I loved Season 4, fantastic, although ruined by that last episode.

I did think though that the people in enterprise were much more like us and I found that very engaging compaired to the others.

Fave non human was Commander Shran BTW, he was great, ecpesially on "Babel One".
